The other night Matt and I had the best supper of the summer! On the menu was cornbread, creamed malabar spinach, peas and butterbeans, just picked roastnears, roasted carrots, pork tenderloin, onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes. It was mighty fine eating! I almost forgot the carrots in the oven 😀 So glad I remembered them at the last minute!

I really enjoyed seeing you and Corie breaking the beans on the front porch. We never had beans exactly like those. The only peas we grew were planted very early, harvested early, too. Oh my dear Tipper, I know we don’t know each other but I surely wished we were neighbors. I was born in WV, then moved to GA, moved to Boston from 2-10, PA from 10-15 and been in Va Beach ever since. In college (didn’t graduate) but I fell in love with a little mountain boy from Western VA..what a treat to get to know his family, eat her biscuits, fish with corn in their creek….we parted ways but it impressed me how they lived. I joined a bluegrass band also around the same time, sang and played mandolin. I’m 60, just turned and your channel takes me to a simpler time, oh that was so sweet. Bought your book and I just love it. Y’all be well. I pray for you and your dear family. Love, Sue

Love every type of beans almost every way. I have them mashed, seasoned, and buttered for breakfast with eggs, cheese, meat, and of course, coffee. Occasionally, I will have a slice of toast with them. Sometimes, I will have beans and ham for a late evening dinner. Bean soup with either hot biscuits, cornbread, crackers, or fresh baked bread with coated fresh butter followed with a slice of Mom's apple pie is a memory from growing up.

I always learn something new watching you. I've never seen peas that look like that and NEVER saw such colorful butter beans. Whenever butter beans are mentioned, I remember my grandma teaching me how to cook them many years ago. Lima beans to me are the bright green ones that are frozen. One thing for sure, in our house, we cooked with a lot of butter.
