May Day in Finland is a truly national holiday: on this day, the city streets are filled with a motley crowd of people of all ages and classes. However, students still play the main role: it is not for nothing that the symbol of Vappu is secretly a white cap. This cap indicates either graduation from high school or the owner’s membership in a student fraternity. One of the most popular May Day traditions is associated with this headdress - awarding caps to famous city statues.
