Why worship legends when you can join them?
You can lift yourself. It all starts with your self-talk. It's time to become your own fan and act like your life is the most important one.

P.S. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how I can do better! I felt like I struggled a bit with this discussion, so I hope that the message and reasoning why this is so important are clear! I'm always cheering myself on saying I can do better next time even when this happens so make sure to cheer yourself on too! 🧡, Amy

"You support celebrities more than you support yourself". This! I think about this sometimes. This stan culture (that is prevalent not only in K-pop of course) is freaking scary. They do not know that this kind of behavior is extremely detrimental to their mental health.

I like how you emphasized giving ourselves the same empowering treatment we give celebrities and not beating us up when things don't turn out right, though I find focusing growth a lot on "taking courses" and "learning new stuff" will eventually lead to burnout. It led me to burnout and I had to find a balance. You can fangirl and learn something new but find balance on not feeling bad because you decided to watch SKZ Code instead of taking that course you just bought. This is taken from the perspective that you're not binge-watching all the episodes nonstop. It's okay to look up to celebrities and find inspiration, great novelists have talked about how other writers inspired them, but do it in a healthy nonobsessive way. I've met so many empowering fangirls that state kpop inspired them to improve themselves, I include myself there too. Girls who have opened kpop related businesses, made new friends, found joy in new hobbies they would've never tried before, but also spend money going on tours, buying photocards, albums... and they genuinely look happy. Buy merch because YOU want it, YOU will use it and not to make your favs richer or as status. Stream music because you want to listen to it and not to top charts. Great video!

Thanks for listening and I agree with you! You shared great examples of what I was trying to say - as long as it's in a way that truly benefits yourself, use celebrities and influencers as inspiration and entertainment. Similarly, BTS lyrics were a huge inspiration so my sister and I made covers of their songs in English! When I say learning new skills, I think many fangirls aren't allocating enough time and energy to bettering their own lives is all. All things in moderation! Take care :)

Hello, first time listening this podcast. After listening to this episode, it made me recall a bible session I attended earlier. One of the key take aways of the discussions was to work hard and mind your own business. I never realized but, putting someone on a high pedestal is in a form of minding other peoples business. It becomes an unhealthy habit. Thank you

Love this so much; thank you for sharing this video beautiful sister…this lesson has been driven home for me multiple times esp the past few years. When you treat yourself like your biggest fan, giving yourself grace and celebrating your achievements will give you the positive reinforcement you need to keep going because like you said, we are the person we are with all the time. Thank you for this so much; you are amazing ♥️

This post beautifully highlights the power of self-belief and the impact of becoming your own biggest fan. By redirecting the energy we often reserve for others towards our own goals and aspirations, we can break free from the cycle of low self-esteem and truly flourish. 🌟

You are so true amy..growing up I have seen in others and myself that we often keep caring about our celebrities life instead of our own..and I used to think that I'll miss out on something if I don't follow every other trends religiously..but nowadays I'm trying to reframe my mindset and putting my needs first. I follow stray kids and they inspire me too but obsessing over them as a fan girl will serve me no good. So I'm always affirming that I'm putting myself first and I'll enjoy my leisure watching them. Just letting you know my story because your videos have helped me a lot and you deserve to get flattered for it!

My dreams are very simple. Spend time with family when you can, life can be very short. Make sure you can independently meet your basic necessities. When you’re financially stable make time for the things you enjoy. Not every moment needs to be filmed on the internet or social media. The joy of not being a celebrity is I can live a life I want without the added stress of a par-asocial relationship. You’re free to live as you are no matter what stage.

Finally! This is something I’ve also observed in deep dive of my low self esteem growing up! Not really with celebrities but with friends. When i was younger i find myself lifting my friends up externally and internally to a point when i do, i subconsciously belittle myself. Don’t get me wrong support is something we all need but I kinda learned that in an extreme context as a child and thought that if i support others or alsways consider their comfort and feelings that i would be accepted and will connect. I think some of them felt connected to me but what saddens me is that the closer i got to my friends in that state the further away i got from myself because i didn’t know myself pr check in with myself if i really like the things presented to me or not. what i think how i feel, i was out of touch with that when i was younger. This led to feeling inferior and invalidating my own experiences. it also led me to thinking my girl friends are perfect to a point i became hyperfocus on them and thought i should be like them for me to be accepted. I don’t believe in the concept of “girls girl”… while i respect women in general i no longer want to repress or unacknowledge the way i feel towards others in the name of being considered a girls girl when it means convincing myself i dont feel otherwise just to maintain harmony when deep inside i myself wouldn’t be in harmony if i dont acknowledge my truth. Thank you so much for voicing and sharing your insights about this! I feel seen. Much of the stuff in media encourages too much support in others to a point of subconsciously putting each other in inferiority or superiority. and to a point of making it feel like just a script being thrown at each other. understanding what you said here would definitely help lead us support ourselves and others in a more authentic place 😌

Jungkook said: ‘you should be the main character of your life’ every time someone says how he loves him and is ready to give him the world, he says please cheer yourself up and give yourself this love first, all of them say that and by loving them this deeply i understand how to love myself too, they kinda showed me, that’s how i got my self esteem even though it’s so hard to fangirl myself it’s, easier with their help

Thank You Amy. You are actually amazing and your videos are actually helpful. I Actually Have Understand This Facts on my own(proud of me😁). I also stan BTS. But My Main Priority Is My Life. But They Actually Help me in my life. Whenever I feel so tired amd feel like giving up I would remember BTS has also worked hard. But they haven’t given up. They gave their best. I should too. Or whenever I feel like why my parents don't support me in my dream. I remember not every member of BTS had supportive family yet they achieved it. Their song lyrics also help&motivate me. Again Thank You Amy for your amazing videos

I don't like actors singers or just entertainers in general and ive never cheered them in the comments it feels super awkward to even see others do that. I like their work not them, so gossiping about TS or Kpop stars is something that saves me so much time and energy! Love their music but don't follow them like sheep
