Dexter Wansel and I wrote Nights Over Egypt exclusively for the Jones Girls in 1980, and to this day, it is still a fan favorite. It was indeed a tremendous honor working with such a gifted vocal group. This comment is coming after the airing of the Jones Girls episode of Unsung, which aired in May of this year. How disappointed I was that the producers decided not to use Nights Over Egypt as part of the Jones Girls story. Nights Over Egypt was also referenced in the episode as moderately successful for the Jones Girls when their version has been sampled in 29 songs and counting, and has over seven (7) million views on KZfaq, thanks to wonderful fans like you. For me The Jones Girls were my ultimate favorite girl group of all time. I will never forget seeing them at a night club in San Francisco in the early 80's. They're harmonies were unmatched.

I grew up hearing The Jones Girls playing around the house. Now i listen to them all the time. "I Just Love The Man" is still my favorite till this day. Those girls were so talented- real singing, none of that studio enhanced vocal mess some of these artists are singing today.

Thank you for sharing this story about the Jones Girls, this took me back when I was a young girl my Mom bought and played all of their music, I remember I Just Love The Man, and Back In The Days, being one of my Favorites.... I Didn't Know Me and Valery Shared the Same Birthday, but I'm a 70's baby wow... I love the Jones girls! Thank you for doing this. I’ve always said they’re underrated and their harmony is pretty much yo me unmatched! Not to mention the grace, beauty and class that they possessed. You mentioned SWV at the beginning, whew that’s my other group. When they harmonize it’s beautiful just like they are. Love me some Swv too. I’ve always said they are underrated too

These women were arguably the best R&B group from the 70's and the 80's. They rivaled The Emotions as having the best voices on wax back in the day, and my personal favorite by/from them is/was their 1984 song, "Ah Ah Ah Ah", which was led by Valorie, who is/was my favorite sister, she was a gorgeous woman. These women could sing birds out of the trees, they were born to do it. May Brenda and Valorie R.I.P. forever...
