The lyrics really tells a story. Of falling in love, creating memories with someone for only to be memories when both people fall out. Suddenly with them not existing in your story anymore.. it's truly heart breaking. Especially when you didn't want that chapter in your life to end. Now both of y'all live separately, making new stories without each other and just becoming strangers again.

It was a shining, golden afternoon outside of time. He suddenly pulled me into a flower shop. "Point at a flower," he said. I pointed at a tulip. "I would like to buy that flower for this woman," he said. The exchange was made, he handed me the flower and we walked out into the street. We kept singing The Girl from Ipanema, all day long. Finally on our way back to his flat, we passed a large crowd that had collected around a street performer who was putting away a saxophone. "One more!" - they were cajoling the musician, a big guy with a shy grin. "All right," he said, picked up his instrument and quickly ran a scale up and began playing The Girl from Ipanema. We snapped our heads to look at each other, and he said, "Will you marry me?" We laughed and walked off, with our arms around each other, walking up the hill toward home. It was decades ago. I correspond with him every five years or so, but never much, and not in a sustained way. There's a part of me that is afraid somehow he'll find this and read it, and think it's pathetic for me to remember and make so much of a relationship that fell apart so long ago. But there's another part of me that needs to commemorate it, to yearn for the beauty of it, to mourn the loss of the promise yet again - and then let a sigh and a quiet smile be enough.

I used to get sad for losing someone and becoming strangers again. But now I look at it differently, now I’m thankful and happy that I got to share that moment of my life with them. I’m thankful I had them for that chapter of my life. Life is just a book with beautiful chapters, and not everyone gets to experience that pure love and joy, so I’m thankful and happy I got to experience that.

I realized this young. I saw that people were so ready hate the people they were with and it confused me because it's like they immediatelyforgot any happinessthey experienced. Everyone sad because of Madelyn’s acting but I cried because of ward coz I actually felt bad for him. He seemed like such a broken character that would do anything to get his family back together. Ik he’s a prick but his acting made me feel bad for him

Heard this on Ted Lasso, and I thought this was some old famous song because it "sounded" so familiar... then I google the lyrics, opened this video, and- I know now that the song *felt* familiar because it spoke to me on a deeper level. Cried like a baby afterwards. Thanks, Celeste

I found this song on Spotify. I never realized how much impact it would have on me. This song was with me through the worst time of my life. It was the only thing with me in that dark place I was in for so long. I appreciate this artist and her talent and the beauty she makes.

I'm here because of Bridgerton. Stunning, hauntingly beautiful voice. I feel quite emotional listening to this. I've experienced the sad evolution of love that this song is about, more than once unfortunately. I still hope that one day, the evolution will stop for me at friends to lovers. And stay there. Forever.

this song reminds me of my first love. the moments where i felt the mutual feeling of security and peace being in each other’s presence. the butterflies that formed as we met eyes in a room. the feeling i would get when he held my hand and rubbed his thumb against mine. when we were together, it was just the 2 of us. Now i see him in the hallways everyday and all i can do is watch as he walks away avoiding my gaze holding hands with another girl knowing it could’ve been me if i had just tried harder.

I'd suggest After Life (season 1 & 2) on Netflix by Ricky Gervais! Especially if you like the emotional depth of a show that delivers via comedy vs high school drama.
