In this review, we go over the biggest of the Celestron Evolution series, the 9.25"! This big telescope is big on aperture, big on portability, and can take you into the world of astrophotography! The Evolution is one of Celestron's most sold models, and there's plenty of reasons why. The 9.25" is regarded as the favorite SCT for Celestron fanatics, and I agree it is one of the best SCT telescopes I have ever used. It’s big enough to gather some serious light, and it’s well rounded for all types of people into astronomy. It could be your next big telescope for your next stargazing adventure!

can you please make a video showing how to correctly collimate this particular telescope?

This type of telescope 🔭 doesn't need colimating! I've had mine since 2014 and it still functions like i just unboxed it kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fLWYpK6HlZ7WaIE.htmlsi=ugnMARK7y1xinc3u

It's a cracking scope. I put some bobs knobs for easy collimation and I tried hard to find a better Diagonal but the prism that comes with this scope in simply unbeatable.

Hi Max. This video has been really helpful, so thank you. I was just wondering, that as I’ve been reading up about this telescope (specs and reviews, etc), that apparently, this set up is nearing its max payload as it stands, so I was just wondering if you’ve loaded it up with astrophotography equipment, please? Does it handle it well, and does it affect stability? Also, seeing some images produced by this telescope would be helpful too. If that’s possible, please? Thanks and keep up the good work. Chris.

Hi there! Yes you are correct in some of your thoughts there. It is close to the max so I wouldn’t personally use this for more than planetary imaging since the camera weighs very little. But if you want to adventure into deep sky astrophotography then you can always take the OTA and use it on a different mount like I do. That’s the simplest way to utilize the EVO and get to use it for deep sky imaging too. But if you really like the EVO and want to stay with that platform and do EAA, I would suggest just downgrading to the 8” model. That’ll give you PLENTY of wiggle room with the weight for accessories and such and not worry about pushing the limits. The weight of the C925 does make it a little shaky, especially at higher power magnification. So take that into consideration. The 8” is more stable. I personally use the EVO for visual and outreach, but when I want to do any serious imaging, I take the OTA and put it on my Atlas Pro or AM5

Good review - fair points. Just bought one used. Pretty sure it had been overloaded for astro as it came with a hyperstar, EQ6, guide cams and stuff so it is going back to Celestron for a service to quieten the alt gear noise. Love the OTA and I think you are right - broken down it is easily portable and capable. Looking fwd to getting it back and out.

😮I fitted the nFocus remote from Rigel - bracket on both C8 and C9.25 uses same controller. Works well

@@MaximumAstronomy I recently got a StarSense Evolution DX 130AZ as a gift. I was wondering if I could use this motorized stand for the DX130AZ? Is there any other motorized stand that would work. Thanks for the great videos.

@@CaptCaveman7570 Since your tube has a dovetail, you can get a SLT, SE, Evolution, various Skywatcher, iOptron, etc branded mounts that accept that vixen dovetail and make it a goto. You can search eBay for used gear and built a little goto rig for sure! Your tube is relatively lightweight, so they all will handle the weight just fine

I really love the nexstar evolution. I personally own the 9.25 as well. I've been having issues with the motor control board burning out regularly. I hope it can be fixed now a third time. But i have seen some pretty awesome stuff with this telescope, and the setup is awesome for beginners. I personally dont know if there is a design flaw in the motor board or if i am just that unlucky. 😢

Oh, 😮I don’t like the sound of that - just sent my (used) one back (above) and they want $546 to replace the board… what were your symptoms? Are they warranted?

@@randallpatrickc It was doing random jerking motions when slewing (fast and sudden and loud movement). Like there was a drop and surge in current causing one motor (first was the az head (TWICE) and then the alt head). The second burnout on the az head, it was a complete failure and the mount was a brick, they re-built. all was under warranty. I now personally think is a design flaw in the circuit board.

@@AaronDavila1 how long ago was the last burnout? (How long is their warranty?)
@AaronDavila1
@AaronDavila1 7 ай бұрын
@randallpatrickc August is the last burnout and went to celestron for repair. They sent it back to me and it was still doing the jerking motion so it went back in November. Waiting for it to come back. The warranty is for the original purchase for 2 years.

How unfortunate guys! I've had no issues with mine since 2014 when i purchased it. It's 9 years old and still works like it's brand new 📡🔭🔬kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e82ni9Sbzd6lhYU.htmlsi=D-YDII75fFuZ9SGz
