I watch this again and again....puts a smile on my face from the start. They look like they're having the best time ever. As a little kid in NYC in the 1970's, I recall Celia Cruz music booming from a store on Dyckman St. Grateful for the happy memories.

Recuerdo muy bien ese día o joven ingeniero destacado en Kinshasa me fui al que se llamaba stadio del 20 de mayo para ver la Fania All Stars concierto que todo el mundo esperaba. No te puedes imaginar el delirio y la alegría ¿Qué causó Celia cuando empezó la famosa Guantanamera reanudó por más de 100.000 personas. Me encanta la música y ahora tengo 66 anos pero te aseguro que este momento se quedara para siempre grabado en mi corazón. Descansa en paz terrón de azúcar dulce y gracias.. Herve

I have always love Celia Cruz since I was 5 years old!! I am from louisiana, and had never seen a "black" person singing in spanish before. I didnt understand the words to her songs but I felt them in my soul!! if she were born in America, I could easily see her as a gospel singer, or a soul singer. She opened my mind to so much music, and I am truly greatful. She was such a beautiful spirit, and always held herself with such pride. Truly Amazing!!

She would mention the word Azucar in a lot of her songs. The word means sugar and to me she was sweet as sugar. I Love her songs , and you could tell she put her heart and soul in each of her performance. When a persons mind,body and soul are in alignment this is the result. Hope your journey back home is a pleasant, peaceful,loving, bright experience like you on earth.😘

You are so right! I often thought the same thing....she definitely had the voice to sing anything she wanted , unfortunately she never was able to learn English very well. I have seen old interviews talking about it , Lol..... Well, I have seen so many live concerts of her and she was absolutely incredible....her voice would not fail in any performance for many years ...of course later in her career her range diminished some but it was a career that lasted over 50 years......she died doing what she loved and I truly don't think there will be nobody in latino music that will ever duplicate her talent!!

That music originated in Cuba from afro-Cuban and european natives. All of the percussion instruments in this song also originated in Cuba: clave, bongos, conga, maracas, guiro, timbales, etc. You also hear a violin, flute, piano, trumpet, which are european.

Je me souvient très bien de ce jour ou jeune ingénieur en poste à kinshasa je me suis rendu au stade du 20 mai pour voir le concert des Fania All stars que tout le monde attendait . Vous ne pouvez pas vous imaginer le delire et la joie qu'a provoqué Celia dès qu'elle a entamé ce fameux Guantanamera repris en coeur par + de 10000 personnes. J'adore la musique et j'ai maintenant 66 ans mais je vous assure que C'est un moment qui reste gravé à tout jamais dans mon coeur. Hervé Paris

Tuvo la oportunidad de presentarse en el Puerto del Callao en 1998 por el 162 Aniversario del barrio chalaco y el lleno del estadio fue total al igual que en la feria del hogar en Lima allá por 1984 y 1987 entre Otras presentaciones que hizo en Perú desde 1955. El Callao como ciudad salsera nunca la olvida y es un lujo ver este video para la posteridad. Que Dios te guarde por siempre y muchas gracias por poner ese sabor y tumbao por más de 50 años en todo el mundo.
