This song is by Jean-Pierre Ferland, the one who composed UN PEU PLUS HAUT with Celine Dion and Ginette Reno. This man has composed dozens of songs that are HITS in the French-speaking world. A song genius. At the same time, it gives you an idea of all the talent there is in QUEBEC. Thank you from Montreal.

It was a song of hope during the Covid 19 pandemic, to try reach the people who felt so isolated. The song title can be loosely translated to "good thing we have each other".

All of these artists are absolutely amazing, but ugh CÉLINE, coming through with the power and vocals effortlessly. There’s really not one of them that can do it like her. Honorable mentions to Lara and Ginette though. Legends in my home of Quebec ❤️

This was for hope during the tick of Covid. Here in Quebec the rainbows with "ça va bien aller" (It's gonna be okay) in the windows everywhere were to boost morale of everyone, but especially children after the school closed in March 2020.

The singer you commented on the pureté of her voice and about her eyes, her name is Charlotte Cardin. She sings in both English and French. I suggest you check her out. With regard to the one wearing the while jacket, her name is Elisapie Isaac. She is a Inuit singer. She sings in French, English and in the Inuit language called Inuktitut. You have plenty to discover. There are many more jewels in Quebec.

@@tnae Yep Charlotte Cardin is extremely talented. She sings in English, she has 2 or 3 albums I’m not sure but her last one is called PHOENIX. Her voice is like no other. Just wow! BTW I live in northern eastern shore in the province of Quebec. Which means about 8 hours from Quebec City. You were saying you were living surely near I live. I’m just curious where it was 😊

The old gentleman you keep seeing is Jean-Pierre Ferland a great singer/composer/songwriter who wrote for himself since 1958 which includes many songs that are now classics that singers like to cover and he wrote for others too like Ginette Reno. You could compare him to American artists like Carole King, Bob Dylan, Burt Bacharach, Joni Mitchell whose songs were covered by many people. He's 87 now so his voice is not what it was but he's a legend is Québec.

The gentleman that started it, his name is Jean-Pierre Ferland a famous singer/songwriter. This song was written a long time ago by Jean-Pierre and was used in this video during the pandemic to help people getting through it. They are all Quebec artists, the most famous of being Celine and Ginette Reno. This video was made in the style of we are the world. It says: I’m lucky to have you, I have you you have me, we’re lucky to have each other, we’re lucky to love each other. You saw Jean-Pierre Ferland, Ginette and Celine when you watched a video of a rendition of a song in front of a huge crowd, the song is called: Un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin - a little higher, a little farther. This video touched your soul ❤

Wow, this video just made my morning!! Thanks!! Wow, such beautiful voices, and an amazing song. I don't speak/understand French, but I speak/understand Celine, so I recognized the song from one of my favorite albums. I absolutely love this version. There is not one voice that I did not like, absolutely magnificent!!!

I was, I don't know why, happy that you lived in Quebec for a few months. I am curious to know where in the North. I had the privilege to work with First Nations in Northern Quebec for two years. Although it is very cold up there, I would like to go back. Probably will. Thank you for that nice reaction. I didn't know about the context of this "concert" but I can understand that it was made during the COVID. The original song is by Jean-Pierre Ferland that you see a lot in the video and that you know from that beautiful reaction you made "un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin" of Jean-Pierre, Ginette Reno (that is there too!) and Celine. That song talks about the chance we have to have each other. And I can understand that in those COVID times we are living, we do have the chance to have each other, to count on each other. Beautiful song, very poetic like all Jean-Pierre"s ! Here is an extract with my free translation : Le paradis c'est ici Y a pas d'autres vies J'te donne la mienne Parce que je t'aime à l'infini The paradise is here There are no other lives I give you mine Because I love you endlessly

And by the way, une chance qu'on s'a is not grammatically correct but poetically yes. 100%! It means literally even if I can't translate exactly : We are lucky to have us. Or fortunately we have us (or each other).

The older gentleman is Jean-Pierre Ferland who co-composed this song and is a legend in Quebec, his album "Jaune" that came out in 1970 is a masterpiece, I would put on the same level as the English classics of the time, he was one of the first to record with synthetizers, a choir, string & brass instruments, with wonderful arrangements. I especially love his song "Le Chat du café des artistes" from this album. Another fantastic group from this great time in Quebec music, is our Beatles equivalent, Beau Dommage and the best song to discover them to me is "Le picbois".

her voice was so phenomenal that at the beginning they wanted to launch her career in the U.S. She did some jazz stuff & believe me, she can do it really well. If I'm not mistaken she did the Ed Sullivan show. I think the pressure was too much for her. She decided it wasn't for her & stayed here, & raised a family. That's why that song is so personal to her. The lyrics talk about someone who decides not to climb so high (international stardom), but not get forgotten & fade away. Celine's a huge fan of hers & she decided to take the path to stardom, that's why the song is so personal to both of them. 2 great voices, 2 different paths. That's why you're feeling the emotion without understanding the words. Good for you, you got the essence of the song

This video was produced in the covid pandémic to shape our strength. Confined. The theme ´ca va bien aller’ meant it will be ok. Bizarre to say meant in the past. In Quebec, at the start of the pandemic, this slogan was our mean to communicate our force and courage to sick people and nurses who fought for us. Great production.

@@jacquelinemonfourny "S'a" is correct for Québécois, which is not standard French. The "qu'on s'a" is the verb Avoir in subjonctif présent. In correct french it would be "Une chance que l'on s'ait" and in standard French it would be "Une chance que nous nous ayons" but we don't use the "nous" in Quebec, except for formal speeches.

Lived. I was in Quebec for about 8 months several years ago. But to answer your question: I pronounce it kwah-bech because that’s how you pronounce it in English. I guess I feel that if I emulate the lronounciation and, by extension, the accent of a French speaker -first it wouldn’t sound natural, and second - it would (or could) come across pretentious or mocking. In general I avoid trying to reproduce other accents. I thinks it more disrespectful to “fake” an accent than to simply pronounce things in my language with my accent. Hope this helped :)
