Flashing back to 1988 when Celtic Frost tried their hand at Hair/Glma metal, today we have a look at the official video from Celtic Frost for Cherry Orchards from the Cold Lake record, Celtic Frost get in those comments and tell me your thoughts on this song.
Celtic Frost was a Swiss extreme metal band from Zürich. They are known for their strong influence on the development of extreme metal and avant-garde metal.

If nothing else, this video got them in rotation on MTV at least on Headbangers Ball. I like it even the video is a little cringy.

I like Cold Lake. The music is still heavy, just more rockin. In fact I've had this album on my iPod for a long while. I believe the whole glam look is probably why Tom hates it, but the tunes kick. What's a trip is how the original drummer Stephen Priestly from the Morbid Tales album returned on this release.

If i remember correctly Tom G. got new people in the band for Cold Lake so it's not the same lineup as the previous releases.

they did a complete 360 turn on this song and album i actually dont mind the song but its like Bob Rock got hold of them and failed

The only reason why I remember this is because of your points: the song erred on the side of quasi-doomy, I thought, but these guys were pulling out all the signature glam tricks....it was quite puzzling at the time, even to someone like me who is not very well-read on thus band at all.....

“I don’t know if you should get such a close up of Tom G there… ya might scare the kids” Dude , I lost it 😂 Yeah, this album is definitely a bust for me in the CF catalog. But I absolutely agree, it’s gotta a much heavier sound. Sounds more like Megadeth than someone like Motley Crue or Poison. The album they did after this, Vanity/Nemesis on the other hand is fantastic, and definitely way underrated.

Quite a departure in sound from their catalog, but it's a rather consistent album. Into the Pandemonium was all over the place with various sub-genres, this was just rock n roll all the way through. I met them and saw them live 8 times on the 2006 / 2007 Monotheist tour. The Hellhammer and early CF days are still best to me.

At first listen way back then I was like WTF! But this album grew on me. i think it was the singing that threw me off. Nothing like what Tom was singing like. If you didn't like this album back then give it another listen. Might change your mind or not. All time favorite song goes right back to the beginning. First song off of the first EP Morbid Tales....Into the Crypts of Rays.

Exactly !!!! It's glam yet it's heavier than any of the other bands doing that type of music. And I always think they made this album to get chicks. The glam bands were getting truck loads of women. I can't fault tom for trying to get some of that to trickle down his way.

Cold Lake was more their nwobhm riffing album. That element of riff was , as the christian death moaning, already in the previous album. The look ? Well to me its quite tongue in cheek haha. People took that serious, but its to take the piss. But if you look 1987 pics, they had big hair as well and stuff.. Everybody had back then.. Cold Lake have some punk depraved thing to it, and Prince influence too.

Tom sounds so much like Dave Mustaine. Looks wise , yikes. Warlock? Male witch. But that works with metal!! 😂. I spit my coke out when you said a close up on Tom not so good lol! The poor kids!! He is one scary looking dude. Maybe the scariest looking out there.
