Oh! My goodness. I heard this decades ago, while studying for graduation, when my main pastime was listening to short Wave radio. After that I am hearing it for the first time now. You can't understand the feelings of a man, who had no idea about what kind of a music it was and liked it just because of the haunting tune, who is lucky enough to hear it after several decades! Thanks.

Written by a distant cousin...Dougie MacLean....funny how the association with the movie Last of the Mohicans, makes people think that's what this tune is all about, native Americans....but not so...It's entitled "The Gael" which is one who speaks Gaelic, the language of the Irish and Scottish Highland Celts

For those of us blessed with great degrees of Gaelic blood running through our veins (including all that ancient pre-Gaelic Neolithic DNA that comprises a huge portion of the lineage of Irish, Western Scottish & Welsh people, up to 75% in most cases, all mixed in marvelously with the later Gaelic elements!).......not only this beautifully poignant, powerfully solemn & magnificent tune yet the next several beers that I lovingly savor will also be in genuine, heartwarming honor of our shared past, the very honorable, praise worthy & pride evoking aspects of the legacy, gene pool & culture that we along with many of our ancestors sprang from! Sit back, relax & allow yourselves to luxuriously take in the easy melody of this soulful & somber masterpiece, steeped in so much heartfelt longing along with this sense of lamentable, Earthly separation that it is (thus denoting much of the history of the Gaelic people, along with that of the Native Americans, Black Africans, Jews, Slavic tribes & others!)❤❤
