Mairead clearly loved every performance and brought joy to each moment that she was onstage. I love her and her music, both on Celtic Woman and solo.

I saw Celtic Woman live in Lexington on Aug 3rd this year. I want to thank them all, but especially Mairead for giving me the inspiration to start playing again! Not a day has gon by since the concert that I haven't picked up my violin and played!!! Love al of them!

She has the ability to perform classical, traditional, as well as contemporary, and has the unique ability to blend them at times. Add a beautiful stage presence and lovely personality and you just can't go wrong. This interview was very early on with Celtic Woman. You may not call it dancing, Mairead, but we do. It's a combination of ballet, Irish step, and floor exercise in gymnastics. What you see on video doesn't even touch what you'll experience in a live show. She is a force all her own.

Mairead, you are responsible for this 17 year old to pick up his old violin again and to start playing it again. i love how you play and how you really get into the music, it is so breath-taking and beautiful

Few people radiate music from their soul as Mairead does. So lovely and talented. Also, I could have sworn I saw her walking around Nashville TN in 2007, on of all nights, St. Patricks Day. Both me and my girlfriend really looked at her, and if not her, her twin. She is a rare delight for music lovers.

the best of the best. no one, and i mean no one, can play as good as mairead. and i don't mean only skill, i mean emotion as well. like she said in the video, she really puts herself into the music. you can't ask her to give anymore, because she's already given everything.
@shuboy0516 жыл бұрын
It's so nice to hear Mairead's voice since naturally we never hear her sing. I could compare her to Holly Hunter's character in The Piano as someone who expresses herself through music.

Prettiest violin player I have ever seen!!!! As far as her talent goes, well, does the word FANTASTIC do her justice ??!!

she is my dad's fav. for the fact she never says a word, (like 3 words in the christmas concert i think) she really makes an impact. evry1 remembers her as the dancing fiddle girl. lol

I really believe that Mairead is not actually human. She is an Angel sent from above for the sole purpose of proving that angels really do exist! She is a miracle! If peace on Earth can be achieved, she will be the one to bring it forth!

Playing the violin while dancing must be really difficult. She's amazing because she can do it so easily. She is an intelligent person as well, and is certainly an expert in playing the violin.

An incredibly intelligent and talented woman. I doubt that many talented violinists could dance (or whatever Mairead may call it) while playing. It requires several degrees of coordination involving each hand, her feet and her body to come out right.
@bandgeek157512 жыл бұрын
I love her dresses.
@Crusadist109915 жыл бұрын
Sorry to disappoint you, but she was performing in NYC at Radio City Music Hall on that date. I agree with you on everything else, though. In under 60 days she will be back in the US on tour, though, so maybe you can catch her then.

After watching and listening to this super LADY, the next time that some guy tells me all blondes are dumb and have no talent, I think I'll punch him in the nose. At the end of a long day I can sit down and watch this cute "Energizer Bunny" move around on stage and play her music and I am refreshed beyond words. Mairead, you're the best !!!!

Mairead: You are responsible for me starting to learn the violin at age 56 after seeing you at Red Rocks Colorado in the spring of 2007. I know I'll never be as good as you but I want to learn The Butterfly in your honor - I am the "BlackDragon" - Glenn :)

It's basically a song about a Mass Rock, where Catholics would meet for Mass while under the boot of the British, who disallowed the practice. Mairead's age is something she keeps a closely guarded secret, since men never get asked their age.
@niskycat15 жыл бұрын
I think technically, a fiddler plays a lot closer to the finger board, usually in more dramatic motions, or a different style anyway; while a violinist will play more careful and delicately much of the time. Mostly to a non-fiddler/violinist it is based on sound. If you can think of folk tunes compared to classical or concert music, that is about the difference.

From what I've heard that's the way she was taught, because the traditional communities actually teach you to hold it that way.. And is weird for them to see it the "normal" way.
@AtemiRaven15 жыл бұрын
Well, it works, so why not? She does it with amazing skill. There is no "proper" way to hold a bow, so long as it works for the person holding it.

"My meaning was to say, that the line "Blonds are dumb" is only valid in the US. " It's not valid in the US, or anywhere else in the world. Anytime you try to disparage a few million people with a stereotype like that, you're on thin ice. -jcr

They usually start at 4 or 5. Past 6 your brain has already lost most potential and become less receptive to the teaching.
@Crusadist109917 жыл бұрын
This is untrue, but good luck getting her true age out of her, she won't give it.
@bookofsnow16 жыл бұрын
honestly good luck but again honestly.. you won't be. She's not from this earth!
