One of my favourite albums. Bought the cassette in 86 wrongly thinking Panic was on it. Didn't like the album at first but it cost me like ten bucks so i forced myself to keep it. Now I dont know what I'd do without it.

Yeah I came across it by accident in the early 90's and wore it out to death (mine was CD by then..lol). I know every word of every song and love to put it on in the car when driving alone in winter.

Hi Adrian. As reluctant to play Marr as you are it’s a fantastic reminder of great songwriting. Melody and composition over flashy solos. I was playing this recently and really appreciate the electric guitar part. Passions previously and now the Smiths, really fantastic work I’m very grateful. Best KZfaq channel by far

i've only really got into the smiths' music these past couple months but it's been obvious to me since the very first minute that johnny marr is an absolute genius and utterly creative and unique. it's so nice. very thankful for this video as well, being able to see what's actually played is such a game changer. i wouldn't want to learn smiths songs from stupid tabs and chord sheets.

Man, think of all the hours of work this video has created for so many of us -- inspiring us to learn to play well enough to hopefully experience the same joy we imagine Adrian must be having when he plays this! Big thanks from so many of us for your consistently clear tutorials and your terrific playing (and the hours and years of work and play it took for you to get so good!) Time to get to work on this! (Friendly reminder -- we'll learn this faster and play it better if we're practicing with some time keeping device like a metronome or the recording. And it's fun! It's just easy to forget to do it sometimes so, ya know, friendly reminder.)

Adrian, I'm sure you're old enough to remember the desert that was guitar magazines in the '80s, '90s, and '00s that endlessly recycled Classic Rock, Hair Metal, and Post Grunge Millennium Rock without the slightest hint of Post Punk. In all of this issues, only once did they do a Smiths song ("Bigmouth Strikes Again"). Reading those, you'd be totally unaware of the best guitar player of the '80s, or McGeoch, or Coxon, or anybody that didn't shred or play blooze. This is to say thank you for remedying this gross oversight with style and substance. If guitar music makes a mainstream comeback, it will be from your viewers.

The Smiths have always been an extremely underrated band and I find it pretty interesting that they appear to be more popular lately than they were back in the late 80s. I first started listening to them shortly before The Queen is Dead and have been a huge fan since. Aside from the lyrical content, Marr’s chord voicings are pretty amazing, great video!

They weren't an extremely underrated band. They were popular since the 80's. NME listed them as the most influential pop artists of the previous 50 years in 2002. So basically 20th Century. Above The Beatles. Lately there was actually a decline in popularity, since a lot of people fell out of love with Morrissey.
