Next time you make a trip to Orlando Florida to one of the theme parks; take time to schedule a visit with the Central Florida Railroad Modelers. In our 2000 sq. ft. clubhouse located near the intersection of Silver Star Road and North John Young Parkway Orlando, Florida, we operate HO scale models on 1500' of dual mainline code 83 track. Our layout has a fully operational prototypical signaling system powered by Digitrax with a custom made CTC system that is used for operational running. On the second Saturday of every month the club runs operating sessions using our custom made CTC and signaling system. The club maintains its own inventory of rolling stock for operating sessions, however, members are encouraged to bring in their own power for operating sessions. Guests and prospective members are always welcome.
Paul "Grumpy" Harris invited members of Northeast Florida Model Railroaders to run equipment and shoot videos of the detailed layout. This video doesn't do enough justice for this extremely exquisitely detailed club layout. When you visit, take time to peep inside windows of the meat packing company. Inside is finely detailed action of workers meat packing the angus beef. Look inside the main union station passenger terminal. Central Florida Railroad Modelers hand crafted a custom chandelier clearly visible from the station's massive pane windows. Inside are busy, bustling passengers rushing from train platforms to ticketing booths. Take a visit to one of the side streets and look inside the billiard parlor. Inside you'll watch pool sharks place bets and run pool tables against unsuspecting amateurs. Next door to the billiard hall you'll get to shop for brand new home appliances such as Whirl Pool and Maytag. The appliance salesman courtesy demonstrates an appliance to a married couple who just purchased their new home. This detail isn't captured with this video. We ran out of time for the day and weren't able to provide macro views of other exquisite fine detailing. This layout can only be appreciated from an in person visit. Thank you Paul "Grumpy" Harris for the personal invite and the privilege to operate on your awesome club layout. What a treat!
The camera used to create the cab ride effects and the overall video is a Sony High Definition Action Cam HDR-AS10 featuring the Carl Zeiss Tessar HD lens system.
Locomotive used was an HO scale 1/87 Athearn Genesis Santa Fe GP50 Phase II 3840 with Tsunami sound decoder.

Pretty cool. I'm 45 now but when I was a kid my dad built me an HO scale layout in one of our spare rooms and somehow hid it from me until Christmas morning. It was made to fold out of a wall and it was as big as the wall, roughly 15 feet long and 5 feet wide. This was back in the early 1980's and I still have most of the trains including a really nice steam loco with smoke effect which was amazing back then. I have some HO scale trains now with the snap together tracks so my sons and I can put together a layout on the living room floor. I bought a couple newer loco's like a 4-8-4 and a BNSF diesel. One day I may build a realistic layout.

+Randy Jaerger I started to write a reply, got distracted and accidentally switched my reply off. So I'll do it again: Thanks for the compliment on 28 Days Later but all I did in that picture was lay in the road semi-naked while a (camera) helicopter flew over several times as the point of view for the Hunter jet fighter in the film. It was very cold and a cop holding up traffic in Hoenester Pass (UK, Cumbrian Hills) told me, between takes, I looked exactly like they find lost hill walkers just before they die of hypothermia! Later, back at the hotel, a hot shower and some alcohol brought me back to life. If I ever make over to your side of the Atlantic Ocean again I'll certainly call by. Your railway is exactly like the layout I've always planned but, of course, never got round to actually making. That's why your work is so important, for lazy people like me who dream. Especially cab-rides where we can see all your hard work in detail. Give my regards to your crew who made it happen.

Incredibly well done layout imo, hope we get more great cab ride videos as things get completed or updates are made. Only thing that would make a better video (but it's hard I guess) would be if the members at least didn't pay the camera or train any attention. The gigantic humans really do detract from the mood a cab ride video tries to set.

Great job on perfectly aligned rails. I'd bet you used lasers to keep it straight. Well worth the effort. It shows. Better than most! Congratulations! Next... finished realstic tunnel innards. As a suggestion to all model railroaders on vids, seeing a human giant always spoils the realisim of the demo unlike european presentations which keep it real.

Some pretty ridiculous comments by a few of you, no graffiti on the cars because most of the rolling stock is owned by club members; to each their own. Why do we have mountains and hills in Central Florida that’s because the layout actually represents West Virginia… As far as what was actually videotaped it’s pretty spontaneous it wasn’t planned out so that’s why there’s only one train running the lights weren’t dimmed and people were in the way.
