What a shame. I really liked his story but I couldn't make it through. Waiting for the interviewers next "ok, um huh." Was there someone in the background pressing a "um huh" button? Thank you for your service. Good man.

Less than 5% of these old heroes left, or +95% are gone. My old buddy Al, joined in 1945, at 16 yr old, (lied about age) he was on a ship to fight in Japan. On the ship heading to there, Atomic bomb was dropped. War over. In Japan, they were training women and children, to fight with bamboo spears, before the bomb.

Last of the True Horse Calvary. Interesting how those that had to live it weren't so fond of all the work involved with horses.

@3:50 ~ " 4 foot from head to croop...." what did he say? Was it "head to hoof"? That can't be right, because the horse knew what that phrase meant. Well, the horse knew more than me, that's for sure, because I don't know what he's talking about. Is this how this interview is going go? My uncle was drafted in the army, early in WWII and sent to Arizona to train in the horse cavalry. He didn't know horses from cows. He was a teacher. His brother, another uncle I had in that war, was a cowboy, actually herded cows on a horse. When he heard his brother was in the cavalry, he couldn't believe it. It didn't matter anyhow. They disbanded that cavalry outfit, I'm told, and my uncle, instead of riding horse, ended up in Australia as an army typist.

No kidding. I love the story but didn't make it until the end. The interviewers "um huh's" and "ok's" were such a distraction.
