For those of us not blessed with the perfect kitchen sink, you can push the stick through a cardboard box and use that to hold the line spool.

Ok, I’ve bought a kitchen sink like Tim’s and just need to organise a plumber to get started.

Watched this video for the 4th time. From Michigan here. About to load line on my first centerpin. Bought an Okuma. I did buy dacron backing, as I plan to fish for steelhead. I'm nervous about ensuring I get it right. Thanks for the video.

From MIchigan as well (UP). Don't follow this guys advise. The spool in the sink is upside down.

Sheffield? I've been on the fence about getting one of those, or a kingpin for just under a hundred bucks more. With food and gas prices and having just gone back to school I think I'm just gonna go with the Okuma. Good enough for now, plus it's gonna be a smaller diameter to find my super light action blood run pinland. I'm sure some time down the road I'll get a heavier rod and I'll get the more pricey reel then. I'm from Northeast Ohio and the only good size stretches of river are either at the mouth, or in the case of The Grand the conditions are only good a few times a year so I can get away with a lighter rod. If need be I'll get out my spinning set up again

Shouldn't the line from reel been pulled the other way. From the bottom vs top?
@LoLoo-wg3wj3 жыл бұрын
if you are right handed what reel should you use?
@colvilleoutfitters32905 жыл бұрын
shouldnt you always go bottom to bottom so match the memory of the mono? That way it sits the same way on your reel that it sat on the spool
@ribolovsana49915 жыл бұрын
Probably not. Because it is not same memory. Some spools are bigger some smaller. This way you straiten the mono line and make it's own memory. As gentleman in video said you avoid line twist. I have done it both ways and this one is better. You should try it.

@@connorerhardt1767 No problem man. I am glad if it helped you.

I understand your point, but I haven't found that it makes any difference. I intentionally use a supple line with low memory for a number of reasons.
@johnklansek8898 Жыл бұрын
Tim just a question regarding tension do you ensure the line is wound up tightly like you do for spinning reels and Alvey reels? that's a nice centrepin
@MrButdim Жыл бұрын
A small amount of tension as the line is wound onto the reel.

What's the reason for only putting a small amount of line on the reel? I'm looking to get a centre pin reel to try out and have no experience with centre pins whatsover so any input would be great, i would like to trot down some of the english rivers and streams, would you recommend 6lb or 8lb line? Unlike my fixed spools I can't have spare spools with line with centre pin lol. Cheers.
@DJFarside Жыл бұрын
I guess with only such a small amount of line on the reel you could easily get it off to put different strain on lol.
@MrButdim Жыл бұрын
Loading the minimum amount of line will help to alleviate bedding in.

50 yards of line is enough??

What if your center pin has spokes - how do you load line on that?
@gbwildlifeuk82693 жыл бұрын
Doesnt matter youre loading it on the reel not the spokes!
@jbradshaw42362 жыл бұрын
Hope you found the answer you were looking for after posting it, if you have that type of reel you can tie the mono onto one of the bars then wind it on. I know what you meant,
@MrButdim Жыл бұрын
If by "spokes" you mean line lays, exactly the same.
@troutking79865 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't you load the reel with braid backing first?
@fishinthebanks35125 жыл бұрын
Yes
@CB-xr1eg5 жыл бұрын
@@fishinthebanks3512 Why? He loaded 60 yds of line on so he's not going to get to the end of that.
@davidstringer18305 жыл бұрын
Also you don’t want a lot of line on the reel as it beds in and causes issues whilst trotting.
@gbwildlifeuk82693 жыл бұрын
Not on a reel that shallow
@MrButdim Жыл бұрын
What for? As mentioned below, it will only encourage line bedding.

line has to come off the top .... much better presentation and contol
@webb-cast1030 Жыл бұрын
The spool in the sink IS upside down! No excuses or arguments about it. The line needs to come off the spool the same direction it goes on the reel. The presenter blew off this fact elsewhere in the comments with a lame "that's why I use a supple line" BS excuse. Someone called him out and rather than admitting he was doing it wrong, he let his ego mislead people that don't know better.
