As watching Master Mei’s story. It really reminded me of Charlie Zhou. Chinese name Zhou Shen. Even tho Charlie can’t be compare with Master Mei. But their compassion for their art is top professional. Never stop to learn, never stop to adept, never stop to create new play or songs. Charlie graduated in Bel canto from Lviv National Music Academy, in Ukraine. Later after returning to China. He train in Shanghai opera, Nanjing opera and Beijing opera. (Just a little in the singing). He’s also trained in voice acting. Charlie have wide range on both vocal and genre. Modern pop, rocks mostly ballads, role plays (sing many kinds of role with different voices in one song) some times he would mix western classic or Chinese opera with modern pop, rocks. It’s one of his greatest wish to bring out the classics even if it’s a little. So the younger generations may take interests in them so the world won’t forget one of it’s old treasures.

The Chinese put their family (ie. last) name first - so his name is Lan Fang, not Mei Lan - surprised that you are not aware of this.

His surname is Mei. His name is Lanfang, not Meilan. Please get your facts about Chinese names right if you want to make a documentary about Chinese people.

I think he meant 梅澜 MeiLan where 澜 Lan is the name after his given name. So basically you can either call him Mei Lanfang or simply just Mei Lan.

Beijing is not in France. It's Bei-JING, just how it's spelled in English. It ain't this pseudo-exotique Bei-zzzhhhhying. Just say PEKING from now on if y'all white folk can't pronounce Bei-DJING.
