It's crazy that someone can complain about people taking their content creators, but they do nothing for their content creators and literally just put their pros out of the job. The best thing they ever did for content creators was for people who aren't even dedicated to their game

This is literally no different than any store like say a Walmart having there own in house brand "great value" . They carry similar products from other name brands but then introduce their own in-house competitor that is priced lower. But this is not anti-competitive because they are still stocking the other companies product and if all of a sudden all of their customers by their cheaper in-house brand they are taking a loss for ordering and not selling the other brands product. For them to make more off of one of the two consumer choices they are making less off of the other one . So there is nothing anti-competitive about it

Bro running a company ain't simple. Especially a small company (Hi-Rez ~ 400 employees) going up against giants like Riot (~4200). We don't have the whole picture. Balancing creators, pros, game dev, recruitment, monetization, competition... shits hard. "you're lucky i like the game" -- thats probably what they're prioritizing. If they can figure it out and actually make a good game, it solves everything else.

It shows how out of touch Smite's ceo is. The players they should be worried about are the people who play multiple different games. I bought the Smite 2 early access, but I probably won't play over the next early access period because I'd rather play Elden Ring DLC, FF14, Wuthering Waves, SMT V, etc. I just don't see a reason to play Smite right now over all the other games I have access to. They're going to continue to struggle because there are only going to be more games to play, and they aren't just competing with other MOBAs or F2Ps. The players they are most likely to lose are players that will just get caught up in other games. The players most likely to stay are the people who only play Smite, but if they start to leave it's actually over

HiRez has always been good at shooting itself in the foot.. Sucks that SMITE 2 and Deadlock are so far from being ready. The biggest issue with Deadlock for me is that its completely souless. There is no overarching theme to captivate people in the way mythologiical deities for SMITE does. The gameplay could be the best ever, but if the theme in Deadlock is just random qwerky heros in psuedo modern environments, its just not going to cut it for SMITE players like me who are attracted to the fantasy aesthetics.

EU tournament being a problem of "venue" sounds like a HiRez excuse. The main benefit of EU region is the ease of travel inside the region so they could've held it in any country. Hell, they could've just bought a spot for some already established LAN gaming event like say Assembly, prices for spots in those events can't be too high since Esports in general has been in a major slump. They could've used the Tournament as a SMITE 2 promotion event as well, letting content creators test out the alpha, kinda like what GGG is doing with Path of Exile 2 right now.

I really hope he didn't actually suggest smite is a "double a game" or that HR is a mid tier developer. Let's be real with ourselves here. MOBAs are niche AF and smite is extra niche within a niche community and in all honesty, has the Polish of a title developed in someone's basement by 2 or 3 hobbyists. The only thing "masterfully executed" about smite is the cash shop. Masterful for their wallets interest anyways.

As much as I love Smite, I'm not sure HiRez could convince me to buy the god pack for Smite 2, let alone any cosmetics. The company is a shit show, and the CEO is more clueless than most
