This reminds me of a famous little story we share in law schools in my country. The owner of a windows making company (glass only) was so proud and sure about the absolute sturdiness and quality of the glass he made, he decided to give his new employees and investors a demonstration during a meeting. The office was very high up in the building, and he told everyone "I trust my glass so much, I'm gonna run full speed towards that window (the window had his company's glass on it) and it's not gonna break, I promise you". He charged full speed towards the window, and to everyone's surprise, the glass didn't even crack. But, the structure around the glass wasn't as sturdy, so he fell to his death even tho the glass didn't break. He was right, and he became ketchup. Moral of the story is, law schools are weird.

Not to take anything away from this man's courage or confidence to take a bullet at close range from a glock. But his company's purpose or at least one of the things they do is make bulletproof vests, this makes sense for him to do this. Take the CEO of walmart or McDonalds put them in the vest and shoot them. That won't make me trust them anymore then I Previously did. Because it what his company does how could they ever expect anyone to trust the product unless they do something like that. It just an expectation that comes with the territory.

This was a great demonstration of body armor. I was a body armor specialist for years with Second Chance Body Armor when it was owned by Richard Davis. He would shoot himself with a .44 Magnum. The only difference is he put a either a phone book or magazines under the vest. It had nothing to do with stopping the bullet, just to take some of the energy so he didn't have a painful wound for 2 to 3 weeks. For clarification. Body Armor is designed to stop penetration. There will always be a certain level blunt trauma (backface deformation signature). So soft tissue damage will occur. However rib fracture is not as common as you think. Also no one has ever died from "organ rupture" from a impact on body armor. Rarely are you incapacitated by hits on the armor, even multiple hits. Yes it hurts like hell but there are plenty of documented cases of officers staying up and fighting after several hits on their armor. Many years ago I did a similar demo. But in my state it is illegal for a person to discharge a gun at another person. So I shot myself with a 45 caliber and used a phone book under the vest too. It still felt like a hard punch. My wife was pissed that I did the demo. God rest her soul.

Yeah that’s smart. Like people need to realize when you get shot with a vest on, it’s tight to your body so when you get shot that’s metal bending into your body quickly and I’m sure it hurts like hell. But at least you don’t have a bullet go through your stomach
@justinsampson58392 жыл бұрын
