This aint your grandpa's Buick. But if it were? The principles would still apply.
Here's the deal: this video is all about the prep process BEFORE a ceramic coating. That's right, a 20-year-old vehicle can be polished and coated, and that's what we will showcase in this 2-part series.
Nick and Yvan go over wheel cleaning, wash, decontamination and general tips when preparing to polish and apply ceramic coating. Let us know what questions you still have!

Those 3800 engines were a gem twenty five years ago as people got 35 mph gas mileage in their Buicks. The supercharged engines had great midrange and could pull pretty hard. Shock technology has improved so much where lower profile tires can be used. I always liked a bit of sidewall on my tires when racing. I cannot wait to see the polish step completed!

I live in Phoenix, where even in the garage it's at least 90 degrees most months of the year. Even when I wait til near sundown to give me an hour outsides before the sun goes down - less sun, but still around 90. Looking for suggestions on how to use the decon chems in such situations. I've got the wash down - I just use a sprayer and DI water and do sections at a time. Same way with these harsher chems? Thank you! I've really enjoyed getting into DIY detailing.

I would love to see a video or a chat of how rinseless wash compares to incredible suds compare - looking at what happens to the dirt. What I mean: Rinseless wash - when using a sponge and doing a roof, I sometimes feel the encapsulated dirt is left on the roof. I then am taking the towel and soaking/removing that dirt. Incredible suds, using sponge or wash media seems to do the same thing. I am breaking apart the dirt and some of the dirt stays on the roof. BUT now I am going to rinse that dirt away. Are my thoughts correct, where rinseless wash sometimes will leave the dirt on the vehicle? It’s not like the sponge sucks in 100-% of the dirt? I am not knocking either one, just wondering and maybe have an episode where you just talk about the process and what really happens to the dirt Thanks guys
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 9 ай бұрын
If you still see dirt on the surface, flip the sponge to the other side, and give a quick second pass, it will pick up and remaining dirt.

Hey, guys I really want to try the clay towel and iron remover combo with the incredible suds, but your towel has been out of stock for as long as I've been looking. I have the P&S clay towel at home and wanted to make sure that it'll work as well before buying you products (for the first time btw 😊). I've been loving the content since hearing about y'all from Pan. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Great video guys but I got one question when you are using the iron remover and clay towel mitt. Shouldn’t you rinse off the suds from the contact wash instead of leaving them on the paint? I know your idea is lubrication, but what if your foam pre wash didn’t remove dirt that may be present still after the contact wash? Now you’re embedding that into your paint with a clay mitt. To me, you should rinse off the suds and then apply your iron remover and clay mitt.

What is better for once a year deep cleaning and removal of old polymer sealants and reapplication of polymer sealant, DIY All Clean or DIY Panel Prep? Is your Fine Grade Clay Towel compatible for use with Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Pro Rapid-Decon All Wheel Cleaner + Iron Remover for the paint decontamination with the contact wash? I will not be polishing, just applying fresh coats of polymer sealant once a year right before Winter.
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 8 ай бұрын
All Clean is great, but to ensure a sealant is removed the best thing you can do is polish -- even just a light polish helps to clean and shine up the paint. We always tell people if they want to use a different brand's Iron Remover...you can take the risk, we don't know. We know our Iron Remover is a great lubricant which is why we recommend it:)

What would be your recommended way of drying a car (towels only) before waxing? Using drying aid doesn't seem like a good idea as it may weaken wax bonding with the paint.
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 9 ай бұрын
DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss or DIY Detail Quick Beads provide much longer durability than any wax. Wax has a different type of bonding to the paint, and can be applied over them. If you’re using DIY Detail Rinseless Wash no need for a drying aid.

Great video guys Most of the time .. the cat would need more than one wash before I coat it You will find more dirt coming out of door jams, around windows and handles I would wash it once, decon and polish it Then wash it again Then coat it But again, depends on the car and the environment you live in

Am I doing something wrong? I have clear coat scratches that I can’t get out with the wool pad with gold standard on a DA polisher. Agree with Yvan, the scratches are probably too deep. Run your nail against it, if it catches your nail then it is most probably too deep (lost too much clear) Just leave it alone
