'I became addicted to raku because of the direct involvement with each stage of the process. The pots absorb and often reflect the intense drama of the firing.'
In this video, potter Stephen Murfitt takes us step-by-step through the processes he uses to create his handbuilt and raku-fired vessels featuring lustrous metallic surfaces.
Learn how Stephen makes his work inside Ceramic Review issue 291, which features a full step-by-step masterclass. You can order current and back issues of the magazine from ceramicreview.com.

When raku fired things got a coat of grime on them what you can simply wipe off with a wet sponge. It is not polishing just cleaning the surface.

@@chmtx yes but you really need to seal the finished piece to avoid any surface oxidation over time. Wax or something.

It's VERY disappointing when the editors don't give us a very good look at the finshed work.

Raku is a japanese technique. You can find a lot about it online. Building a raku kiln is quite easy and costs less than a regular kiln. The rakuing process usually needs 3-4 people to work together. It is really dangerous because you hold a glowing red pot on about 1000°C and there are that smoke coming out from the kiln and the bins too which is harmful enough. Learn more about rakuing online find a place with people practicing it and do it. :) I am sure there are possibilities in Bangladesh too.
