This is a sequel to the mountain soil firing test sent by the viewer.
Pottery with original clay dug from the mountain opens up new ground. I think you can enjoy various factors such as the roughness and non-stickiness peculiar to mountain clay, and the difficulty of molding. Also, the feeling of firing should be a bit different from the purchased clay.
Clay was sent from the viewers to such mountain soil.
Let's try what kind of work will be finished if it is molded and fired using this clay!

Very interesting and beautiful. Where I live in Australia there are very few good clays for pottery. I like to collect clay from the side of the road and from farms. It is an enjoyable process, refining and preparing the clay.

Thank you for your comment. You're watching in Australia! thank you! If we use mountain soil, wouldn't there be clay that can be used for pottery? Clay from fields cannot be used much even in Japan.

Thank you for your comment. Straw ash glaze is a very popular glaze in Japan. I think it would be interesting to be able to adjust the whiteness and the degree of melting of the glaze.

really been such a huge fan of your video ( which also inspired me to learn Japanese along the way) - just wonder (if you have time ) if you would be able to put up a video on an interesting topic: the difference between 志野焼, 信楽焼, 唐津焼 and other type of famous pottery in Japan ;) thank you

Thanks for your comment! The ash of the recipe is natural ash and artificial ash, and the baking is slightly different. We use different ashes to enjoy the difference. I look forward to your good results.

Hi Kiraku! Thanks for doing a follow up video. I was wondering about the mountain clay, how it looked after firing. The last glazed piece (that had more feldspar) was the best result of the test. I liked how the straw ash turned almost purple and left nice colors on the rim. Please consider testing that same glaze formula on refined clay. Should have even better results.

Thank you for your comment. As you said, it was a beautiful straw ash glaze. There are pottery that I have tried with the clay that I always use, but the mountain soil is more beautiful. Since the mountain soil has a lot of impurities, the glaze melts well and it seems to be finished beautifully.
