A monument commemorating Poles murdered by Ukrainian nationalists in Volhynia and Eastern Lesser Poland - "The Volhynian Massacre" - was unveiled on Sunday, July 14, 2024 in Domostawa. The sculpture by Andrzej Pityński is controversial due to its drastic message.
The sculpture cast in bronze shows an eagle whose body is set in flames, and on the wings are the names of the towns whose inhabitants were murdered by the UPA. In the center of the monument there is a carved cross with a three-pronged fork on which the body of a child is impaled. At the base of the monument, on one side, there is a family with children in flames, and on the other, the children's heads impaled on the fence rails are also in flames. The monument with its plinth is 20 meters high.
