No, if yu buy the larger package you can just cut out what yu need an wrap the package back up until you are ready to use it again. 🙂

Just found your channel and it's so helpful! Thankyou! Could you help me though...I bought Cernit translucent for the first time and found that when I baked it, the colours came out much darker....the yellow came out orange and the orange was red...any ideas what I might be doing wrong ?

Hi! I am so sorry I am just getting to your comment. I am new to Cernit and mostly working with Translucents I know that the color translucent changes after baking but from orange to red is a jump and not sure why that would happen. Please join Samantha Borrows Facebook group and add this as a question. That is where I get most of my help from. I wish I knew why this happened so that I can be more helpful. I’m new to polymer clay, I bought some premo transclucent and it was so crumbly it was impossible to condition ( but had nothing to compare it too) so I bought cernit amber translucent but still got a lot of plaguing ? What’s the trick to “condition “ translucent clay ?

I haven't had this issue - I am quite new also. But I have had old clay before and it sounds just like what you are describing. It just took extra time to condition by cutting it up in small chunks and adding clay softener to it. When clay is crumbly it can still be conditioned but it takes so long we want to give up! I am in a Clay Facebook group and it would be the perfect place for you to get an answer. It's run by the youTube Channel owner of Jessama Designs. This group has helped me so much so you may want to look it up, join and ask this question there too! How do the precolored Cernit clays feel? I think mine partially baked during shipment.

I actually got mine at least 2 yrs ago now and when I open they still seem fresh. They are soft almost tricks you into thinking they are fully conditioned if that description helps. Also you would have had to leave them in your mailbox for days in over 100 degree weather I feel before they would bake. I recommend The Clay Factory on Etsy to get your Cernet. Always fresh and quick shipping.🙂💯

I ordered some of the big translucent one, the exact same you have and mine is Luke frosting? It's sticky and it melts 😓 what do I do 😓

Cernit Clay is one of the freshest clays you can buy - that's why it is like that. Normally once you begin to condition the stickiness resolves itself. If it doesn't roll it out on like a number 0 on your pasta machine or about 1/4 inch thickness and leave it laying on a piece of typing paper for about a day or so - its called Leaching - this 100% helps the clay as it pulls some of the oils out that makes it sticky. :-) *Paigey Bigidi,* Keep being INSPIRED! i use it for cains so that the flower is the only thing showing but you can use translucent and roll a bit of the color clay into it for a translucent look but you have to just make sure its just a pinch or so of the color and more translucent *lisa huggin,* Keep being INSPIRED! Is this clay supposed to be almost gooey like? I typically work with Scupley Premo, and decided to order Cernit off Amazon. I haven’t made not 1 successful pair of earrings 😬😮‍💨 help!

*Amber Morales,* Hi Amber...out of the package Cernit is very soft. As you condition it, it will actually become firmer and have a feel that is close to Premo when fully conditioned. I'm having a hard time with the translucent bc it's so ridiculously soft. It comes out if the package so soft that I can set it down and it will start flattening on its own. After working with it, it turns so soft that it's almost a liquid. I've tried mixing regular premo with it, and mica, and chalk, etc. I can't get it solid enough to even hold a shape. With normal clay you can put between paper and it will harden it up a little by leeching the oils. With cernit translucent it will just stick hard to the paper and be impossible to remove. Do you have any tips for hardening it some? I've been putting it in the freezer, but that isn't ideal. I've not made anything successfully with it yet bc it's so soft. 😭

Hi! I have never seen clay that soft before. I recently bought a very fresh batch and tried leeching for the first time and worked well. The only thing I know to do is leaching or put it in the freezer and the more extreme is just leaving it alone for about a month to allow it to age but with how hard it is to get clay these days...that may not be an option. My last thought is to go and join Jessama Tutorials on Facebook and ask this question in her group. I am 100% sure you will get some awesome solutions. I had the same issue with the Cernit translucent. I thought that may be it had gotten too hot. At this point I don't want to work with it. I love the Keto clay! I just bought some and thought it was the best. Thank you for sharing!

I have had problems with liquidy transluscent before as well. I don't know if this will work, but perhaps try leaching on a thicker paper, like card stock, or Bristol board (in the art supplies sketch book section). Those papers have a smoother "tooth" that may cling to the clay less. I can't testify to how well that may work, but perhaps worth a shot. Good luck!
