What happens if there is a power outage? will the flap not work? - our current cat flap with microchip identification and curfew settings works on batteries and sends me a notification when batteries are running low, it also has a light on the flap to identify when batteries are running low. It connects with wi-fi and communicates everything to app & push notifications. Why could this flap not also be run on batteries? I presume it's because the camera uses a lot of energy as cameras always do. Fantastic to stop one of my cats bringing in prey however I really need an answer if there is a power outage what happens?

Err... cats hide their pain from injury and illness as much as possible. And even if AI could tell you how your cat feels, people should never rely on the response of AI to make a decision on their animal's medical needs. That is a really bad idea. Also, what happens if a predator is pursuing your cat and the cat is trying to get in the house to escape and gets locked out because the AI detects an animal that isn't the permitted cat? The flap locks down and now the cat is trapped at the entrance to the flap and at risk of being killed.

So, this flap door gives humans the comfort of knowing unwanted prey will not enter their homes. Doesn't stop the cats from killing these creatures, just stops the yuck factor of having to find and dispose of them in the home. Hey, I've got an even better idea. Don't allow your cats to go outdoors where they have the opportunity to hunt and kill. Want your little baby to have the outdoor experience? Then set up a caged area that keeps all the other animals safe from an agile apex predator.

The wording on this video is so disgusting. She casually drops the amount of local fauna outdoor cats kill (well, only the ones that are brough home) and uses it as an argument as to why you’d want their product. Maybe don’t let your cat out? Maybe don’t just ignore the fact that it kills everything it can catch just for fun? I’m so sorry you got scared by a dead mouse that one time :(((( I guess I don’t care about the product existing that much and it’s kinda funny to look at but the way she’s selling it didn’t work for me at all.
