Old girl hadn’t flown in about a month and only a few cylinders were firing for a bit. Eventually the rest of the cylinders joined the party.

Oh I disagree. I’ve never flown one with a X wind gear, but I want nothing to do with one. I’ve never had a problem with cross winds in the 195. Like any tail dragger, you gotta be on your game, every landing. But to me it’s a much easier tail dragger to land than many others I’ve flown….including 170’s.

Where do parts come from when it comes time for a major on one of those engines? I've always wondered that about all these old radials still committing aviation. Were warehouses full of spares manufactured back in the day?

There are several companies that support these engines. Two are Radial Engines Inc and Covington. I’ve never had a problem getting parts
