Such great info and sharing. Makes me sad the think people from USA not friendly. I do know what you mean. The last decade, political, financial, covid. So many stressed. We have recently visited the area you are building in. Lake Chapala, Ajijic. We are seniors, have 2 adult sons.Very busy they are. But would not want to interfere with their lives. I am proud of their accomplishments, but family, seniors, culture not the same. We helped parents. Spouse recently diagnosed dementia. Age 73. Still mild but our future will change dramatically. So visited Assisted Living , 4 with someone that knows what we will need. Loved how friendly, loving, peaceful feel of area. Just concerned like all, lack of water, planet issues. So far that area has the most. We do not have long term care, and would not want nursing home care in USA. As a nurse I saw how I would not want to be cared for. We all deserve respect and loving care. I am watching you and family. What a nice family you have. I do hope something left for our sons. If we stay USA, our hard work will not be passed on financially. Certainly our teachings, values will. We would be proud to learn your language and hopefully gain your trust and respect. We both treat all humans respectfully. Raised Catholic. Hope to meet you if we return. Keep on doing what you are doing. Great knowledge, feelings you share. Honesty, Truth!~

Hello and thank you very much for your kind worlds. I hope you find the best fit for your situation, I do think Ajijic overall can fulfill that because of all the amenities they have to offer , also there is good hospitals if need be. I think retirement in the US is super difficult, if your aren’t well prepared what should be the best part of your life, could be the worst. Blessing to you.

Hola 👋 do you have a reference for a lawyer in Chapala that can help with our Mexican residency? I just requested our appointments for our consulado and I’m getting very nervous because of the qualifications rising each year so we feel this must be the year we apply and get approved, we do qualify at least for temporary as far as financials but we here horror stories about the rules and how many times an attorney helped them. I know we need our residency to open a Mexican bank account to then be able to do something like this which is a God send for you to be talking about this for us possibly. As always any help is greatly appreciated, I’d much rather give business to a good local person that you know or have heard of then a random one. 😊blessings in Yeshua

Hello I don’t know of any layer that will take care of residency. However if your in Chapala. The Chapala Society located in down town Chapala. Can help in these kind of things. I heard they are very good. Question, are both your parents Mexican nationals?

@yeshuaismyredeemer , ok sounds good , I'm on a Facebook page now I found with some references but I thank you for responding! My parents are not Mexican national, nor are my husband's very unfortunately and we could have easily got our residency just by showing we used to visit Mexico between 2016-2020 but we used to drive in to go to Puerto Peñasco so since we never flew or never stopped at immigration to get our passports stamped we can't prove that. Now we have to go by financial requirements.

I'm going to ask this differently from the way I said it previously, but is there a way to invest a US IRA in Cetes? I know you can't transfer directly without penalty, but maybe there is an IRA investment vehicle that is invested in Cetes?

I tried finding out information about this, nothing indicates it’s possible. Actually the only way to buy CETES is through a Mexico bank only. They are not available even en (bolsa de valores) stock market. It appears that you have to buy in directly. I’m not sure if that helps. Sorry if I couldn’t be of much help

Hello. Im glad it helped a bit. No I tried opening one here by HSBC but if you open in the US it’s considered a US bank account. You have to open an account in Mexico

Hello. Yes the best way is to open a Mexican bank account and transfer. That what I do. There’s a small fee but it’s not as much as how much you loose in exchange boxes.
