This is how you do exposition in video games. This part was sick. And the shinra museum/tour in Remake is another example. I thought these sections were so neat.

A prequel of this game featuring the Cetra would be nuts. Just imagine the arrival of the Meteor and the horror inside, how the land started to corrupt and the Cetra could only seal that thing at best, knowing that in the future it would reactivate again.

So, did Jenova infected humans and that's why it attacked the Cetra? Sound like some Satan in the garden of even horrible turn of events kind of thing.

Man, I've been thinking about this stuff for a while now. I want to know who the real Jenova was! We know she was originally a beautiful woman, or at least disguising herself as one. How about a backstory of that? A vicious, monster disguised as an angel wins the trust of the cetra by bringing something new (technology perhaps) and then poisoning their minds. The Cetra rebelled but could hardly destroy the thing, instead only being able to seal it. Jenova's real legacy was humanity, the corrupted descendants of those Cetra that joined hands with her and went astray, becoming Barbarians. Sephiroth mentioned this during his time in the Shinra mansion library before going berserk...and the reason he went haywire was because, like Cloud he's been hallucinating for a while and during his psycho Eureka moment he managed to get the entire thing wrong. The humans didn't kill his kind, (Jenova) it was his race and the humans that eliminated the Cetra, after the Cetra, sensing danger attempted to cleanse the planet of this virus, managing only to contain it by the end while facing near total extinction. Now make it happen Square!

No more prequels and sequels. They’re overdone video games and Hollywood beat them to death. Also Their story is rather benign and would make for a stupid prequel.

@@Justajawnie A little too late to call b.s on it though. We already know this... People want spinoffs because they want more of their favourite story. So far there wasn't an FF7 prequel or sequel that completely sucked.

Jenova is more like Pennywise/IT from IT and The Thing from The Thing, a gender-less, shapeshifting, extra-terrestrial eldritch horror that preys on its victims by appearing as those they know or fear.

I want a game that deals with The Ancients and their encounter with Jenova. I wouldn’t be opposed to the main protagonist being an ancestor of ifalna.

I love the new mythos they established by taking the original story’s lore and deepening it with the involvement of the Gi , the black Materia and the resentful humans. Illustrating the past with the apparitions in the temple was genius on the developers part.

Major Spoiler warning ahead. So heres the intresting part. They said jenova took form of the dead and sowed discord between the humans turning them against each other. Which is why they must have turned on the cetra as well as they state due to their celestial adversary. This would make sense for the aerith jonova theory to come to light if aerith tries to turn cloud against the others. But sephiroth is already succeeding at doing that as we saw with him and tifa. So this is what is confusing me. Again i still stick with the spirit aerith and life stream aerith theory. Creator at the northern hemispher where the first calamity fell and where the GI came from. Their worlds life stream being the black life stream each battleing to take control of the planet to merge with it and become one with it reuniting the calamity so Sephiroth can sale the universe as it being his vessle. The black life stream trying to take over the white life stream the white whispers batteling the black whispers which sephiroth jenova took over and made his own allowing him to traverse time and space or be in all time and space as they are, the white whispers. I beleive the black life stream came from the planet that was the first calamity the world of the GI. Sephiroth states he want the world as his vessel to sail the universe just as jenova did which means jenova came from another planet ridining another planet as its vessel and that vessel being the meteor. The black life stream must be a dead life stream which would explain why its black. The female figure we see that people say is jenova i beleive it was the body of the female that gave birth to sephiroth being fully infected by the jenova cells. I dont beleive jenova had a female form but the monstrous form we see that we battle. Sephiroth takes a similar form as sephiroth reborn, fully infected. The materia of peace the black materia must have been cleansed by the cetra turing it into the white holy materia. But was it first the black materia or was it first white? Or was its natural state the empty materia we see cliud holding? The materia of peace. The planet purges anything not of it so it purges the black life stream and the jenova cells and the GI. As we see when the planet detects the GI it discovers them and purges them bring Cloud and gang back to the present and out if the dream. The GI take residence in the effigy their spirits do does that mean spirits can reside in hosts? Is zacks spirit and sephiroth spirt and aeriths spirit residing in cloud? These are my theories going off just what i see from the games. I saw one theory state cloud creating the black materia which is a good theory. But cloud already has it on his person at the end if the game so he cant have created it when its already there. I need to go into other source material to do a more deeper dive into my theories. Again these are theories not facts. Only my speculations.

Jenova took a page from Sauron from LotR, (in the second age of Middle Earth Sauron disguised himself as an Elf lord named "Annatar" and helped Calimbrimbor create the rings of power, only to deveive him and created the One Ring to control the others)

That would explain why genesis was always so overly obsessed with the play. Heh.. I guess the title is also fitting, now that I think about it.
