@@jamesivan24 It was also there in season 5 episode 9 "VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing" in the scene where Abed and Annie decided on playing the VCR game "Pile of Bullets" in order to determine who will live with them in the apartment among Annie's brother Anthony and Abed's girlfriend Rachel After agreeing upon the terms of challenge they proceeded to do this handshake

I almost agree about any cast members being logically paired with any other cast mate- except Yvette Nicole Brown and Chevy Chase. No one wants to see that... unless the train wreck wasbe funny. I take it back; those two should definitely be paired up, but only in the last season. Shirley and Pierce would be funny in the short-term, but its not sustainable.
