Irritating when you're too close to it, but it's used in heavy traffic to get people's attention and it sure does. No other emergency vehicles use that air horn so you know for sure there'll be a fire truck coming through in a bit.

@@RefrigeratedWaffles2 ....I didn't make any reference to ambulances at all. In this video I hear a constant fire truck siren and the as-needed blaring of an air horn. The same two sounds I hear nearly every single day coming through my living room window on the Far North Side from the fire trucks racing south on a call, trying to get through the heavy traffic of an extremely busy intersection.

@@greenbean-chickenbean as long as they've put in the time to work their way up to engineer, they do. One of the local FD's near me has a female engineer at one of their houses.

Sometimes competition can get a little heated.... Pardon the pun. I know with my guys we have a friendly competition with another station..... As long as nobody does anything stupid like that Chicago Fire scenario which by the way actually did happen for real it's okay.

Chicago is very hard to get into, it is lottery picked and also point system setup for chicago only. Best bet is to join a department in the chicagoland area and wait on the list until you get picked

@@joeburros4878 unless ur 100% deaf, u can hear loud fire apparatus responding, there are 2-3 different types of sirens used w/low to hi pitched tones. America has the most lights on it fire apparatus as well & its night time. Responding in a fire apparatus watching ppl make stupid & dumb driving choices pretty much every time you ready hot, all those drivers don't have hearing issues, a super small %, its typically dumb drivers.
