Migraine , no it isn’t. You’re thinking of individual war graves for fallen soldiers which sometimes records their service years. This film contains a French war memorial that is dedicated to all of the fallen of the Great War, hence “1914-1918”. I’m not sure if memorials are the same where you’re from so that may be the confusion. War memorials are like this here in Europe. You will also see Second World War monuments inscribed “1939-1945”.
@migraine461
@migraine461 4 жыл бұрын
kasrkin45 I dont really know whats written on the plaque in 3:00, might be the name or something but here when a soldier dies and did something “beyond call of duty” they are immortalized with statues from where they died and put the story, name, and date od service of the soldier.
@kasrkin45
@kasrkin45 4 жыл бұрын
@@migraine461 What I'm trying to tell you is that this is just a war memorial dedicated to fallen soldiers of the First World War. They are found in every village in France, not dedicated to an individual soldier, but to all who served. The statue of the soldier from the short film is purely to symbolize that character's death. The monument is not dedicated to him alone. May I ask where you're from? I'm just curious as these are so common place across Europe that it strikes me as odd that so many people believe this to be a grave/ memorial to a single man.

@@tomjenner6818 some French joined Hitler's army to fight communism (USSR), yes. Some were bitter against the British and American for attacking French naval fleet and bombing French cities and factories, yes. Many French hated Jews back then. But saying the majority of the French fought alongside the Germans is completely false.

@@tomjenner6818 Gee thanks Jackass, I know my history, Frenchmen joined the Waffen SS to fight communists, most of the others just continued their daily lives, and what tells you that the poor guy is a nazi? Yes, right wing frenchmen did collaborate to a degree, with the slogan "Better Hitler then Blum" in other words "better the foreign anti-communist jew haters, then our own communist politicians", they mostly did it because of right wing beliefs, and antisemitism, not to mention the extremely active (though at times over rated and over represented in my opinion) French Resistance, or atleast, the dozens of groups and cells who made up the French Resistance, who fought to through out a foreign invader (And in the case of the Communists, maybe establish a Communist postwar France in the process), now that that's over with, good day sir.

Why are people thinking the monument was for the boy? It is literally a freeze shot of the adult soldier shooting down the fighter, and the years on the plaque are the years world war 1 took place in, and the boy was not 4 years old, thats a freaking toddler, and even an army desperate for man power wouldn't put a toddler on the front, he was at least 10
