Losing a parent is hard and it can take time to heal, from what I can tell Ling's step-mother understands that. This video sends two messages to me, one being about grief but I don't know how to write that at the moment. The second message being that step-parents know they could never replace a childs real parent but they will still do there best to guide them.

Children don't like intruders, so most step-parents are considered evil by them even if they're not. Which is pretty hard to take in. Imagine marrying the person you love but his children hate you. Just talking about good step parents of course. Got 2 of them and they showed me more of a working relationship than my actual parents did together.

Once I saw the step mom picking up the broke plate I realized the little girl wasn't over her mother's death, she believed that her step mother was trying to replace her mom so her imagination led to her seeing her step mother as a monster

This movie has TWO morals: 1) the 1st shows us that a little young kid will NEVER see a different person as his/her new mom. Kids in this age needs THEIR mom at most in growing up. A kid like this girl - who looks like 5/6years old - wont understand that someone other will be a "mom/stepmom" for them (because from the kid perspective this person is just a stranger and she doesn't deserve for the kid to be called "mom" or "stepmom"). 2) the 2nd shows us HOW IT'S TO BE a stepmom/dad. It shows us that it wont be easy for us (like for the kid), taht we wont earn so fast trust from it and 99,99% of that what we will try to do for the children - it will be pushed from the kid away, because we wont look like the biological mom, because we wont be like her, we wont take the same way care of the kid like his mom did, because we dont know so much about the kid like his mom used to know, we know anything what the kid liked to do/eat/watch and etc with her mom. So that's why we see the mom in this video that she doesn't scream on the kid when it throws the dish away or when the kid doesnt listen to her when she tells to stay/wait. She knows that the kid needs time and that she CAN'T be mad/aggressive because of that. Because everything what will she do/say/cook wont look like that what used to do the biological mom - the kid will feel like it would live in a new world something what wont look like the old good home, everything will be different for the kid and it wont be the same - the kid like the stepmom needs time to accept this situation. The kid needs time to grow up and understsnd the situation and the stepmom needs time and a lot of patience from the kid till it will trust her. ~ I love this video

I agree, and same thing for step fathers. I was in that kid perspective years ago, and there's still a good bit of anger and disgust still latched to me towards my sister's dad. I could only wish he was like the step mom in this video, he was very much the opposite and a huge narcissist to top it off. Very emotionally and verbally abusive and I'm so happy my mom divorced him. Now I don't like the idea of her remarrying, I want her to move on and find love but I'm still scared of it ending the same way, even though I don't even live in her house anymore being 21 now. But that just goes to show just how needed a lesson like that is for step parents in my opinion.

This was a nice animation with a good lesson. It's just too bad this doesn't really happen a lot in the real world. It's real easy for single parents to get so caught up in their new relationship they don't think about if the new beau or girlfriend would even get along with their kids. You'd think that would be a more important priority to some parents vs fear of being alone. I shouldn't judge, it's just, there's a lot of truth to that evil step parent trope.

I think this person missed the point entirely. The stereotype is that step parents are evil. This shows that's a misconception and a serious one that keeps being spread. The girl saw the step mom as an evil that replaced her mom but ultimately realized that wasn't the case. The point here is that step parents aren't evil.

Some parents fear being alone so much, that their partner can abuse their own kids whether that person is the other biological parent or not, and sometimes they are a compliant bystander who allows it to happen because they'd rather their kid be abused then actually protect their child and be better off alone.

We have a similar story here in Ireland concerning stepmothers. It begins when a poor farmer goes to visit Biddy Early (an old lady rumoured to be a witch) about his horse who had taken ill. Old Biddy (yes, that was het name) had news for him on his arrival, his infant son had also fallen ill & she can only help either the baby or the horse, she advised him on what to do. He was in a dilemma here, the horse was the family's only means of support but the baby? He decided to speak to his wife about it. She wasn't the boy's birth mother, she had died the day he was born & the farmer remarried some time later. He told her what Biddy told him but she was just as troubled as he was, that night they couldn't sleep & at midnight the baby began sneezing, at the 3rd sneeze the stepmother cried out "God bless you!" Which saved the baby's life. Old Biddy Early told the farmer that if they stayed quiet while the baby sneezed he'd die. He asked his wife why she said what she said, "His mother would do it if she was living, i'd want it for my child if he or she didn't have me living". The next morning the horse was found lying dead in the stable, what would you do if you were faced with a similar scenario? Would you have lived with the guilt of losing someone special if you stayed silent? These are the story's 2 mottos. Although Biddy Early was a real person, many stories about her were fiction.

That’s her step mother. Her real mom died and was too young and scared to accept this new addition to the family and saw her as a monster. When she saw how she was just trying to help her, she saw she is a normal person, and she is trying to take care of her and be the mother she doesn’t have. Even in the painting it can be seen that her picture changes as she opens up to her.

I find this great symbology. How the stepmother was bringing the little girls eyes on a tray, so that the little girl could see her clearly. For the little girl to see the stepmother exactly as she is (nothing but love) and not what she wants to see (toxic monster). It shows that people are who we believe them to be and once we change our perception of them, then toxic illusion that was created of the person must fall away.

This is a good indication on step parents and step families as well as blended families (It's hard on families and children going from loss and trying to mend the family)and many various of ties of family members involved. Showing its important to let children and their entire families slowly introduced and not push them on them especially young kids and those who are aware of the changes going on , they need space and time to process in there own way .. don't try to force change and acceptation or they will resist and can become resentful and make them not want to be part of the family and not to have any bond...

My theory is that, the girl's mother died and her father remarried another woman so the girl believes that her father's other woman is a monster (so she sees it) but then looks at her well and is no longer a monster :)

I understood that the girl when her mother died and her father remarried saw her new mother as a monster, the "eyes" she feeds him I suppose was normal food but the girl saw it as something horrible. The 2nd mother did love the girl and when she helped him to stand up the girl saw that her current mother was a good woman?

Analisando la animacion puede que no sea la mejor pero es bastante interesante y me siento identificado con la niña incluso logro empatizar con ella ya q la niña perdi a su madre y el padre se enamora de otra persona otra mujer q la niña la ve como un monstruo que le da ojos para el almuerzo la niña ve a su madrastra como un monstruo como yo lo hice tambien cuando mi padre se enamoro de otra mujer esto puede afectar muy fuerte a un niño pero lo unico q podemos hacer es aceptarlo como lo hizo la niña

So I do soccer. And on my team there's this dude named Jackson that I have a crush on, I wasn't really like physically attracted to Jackson but he seemed cool to have as a friend I thought Kayden was really cute? But we had a game yesterday and it was below freezing outside and he told me that I could borrow his jacket because I forgot mine in the car and I was like astonished by how nice this 13 year old boy was! And so when I was out on the bench I decided to go get my jacket out of the car and then when I got back he told me that I could still use his jacket if I wanted to which I think he was hinting to me that hey you know if you know- but not only that these two girls were cuddling up to try and get warm and he was grabbing his water bottle out of his bag and he made such a gentleman move and said "excuse me ladies" I was very surprised that a preteen boy can be that polite and that mannered. Me and him have been playing defense since we got on the game I play left defense and he plays middle defense we just played defense together and even during practice we play defense it's something me and him have always done together and that's where the coaches put us so we're really good partnering but what should I do about the whole crush thing?
