A plump caterpillar needs help getting into its cocoon. Two insects help a caterpillar in her metamorphosis.
Sweet Cocoon has been selected as highly recommended at the 2015 Oscar ("Nominated Short Films" category)!

Me too i laughed and felt very bad for the little butterfly and that two poor insects who were trying to help her 🙁 but i enjoyed the video it was a very different type of short film 😊

Basically what I and my sister did with a june bug one time XD Tried to keep both of our cats at bay for long enough so it could fly away, then it got caught by a crow as soon as it was out of the cats' reach.

The characters are brilliant - at the end they managed to avoid getting soppy about the wonders and beauty of the transformation - so the end is shocking -- funny, but shocking. Not often you can have that delicious feeling of laughing but wondering if you're wicked to do so.

I saw a making of on this short, and the animators said they wanted it to look like a woman wearing a big, fluffy mink stole. I think they succeeded! The rendering in this short is unreal. The way the light plays on her eye on the close-up, how the weevil's snout is just slightly translucent, it's just magnificent attention to detail!

That's the whole point of the film. The caterpillar was too lazy to make its own cocoon, so she stole one (clearly belonging to a thinner caterpillar). Then karma comes when she transforms into a butterfly.

One the caterpillar turned into a butterfly, it’s “fur” reminded me of Sully’s (the BIG blue guy) fur from Monster’s Inc.! It’s one of my very favorite early CGI movies!!! Actually, one of my very favorite animated movies of all time! I love Mike Wazowski too!!! 👁
