If you are doubting which to but because they are "the same" certainly 100% buy nintendogs + cats if you want a puppy game. If you love puppies, buy both ;) But these are the things that were added! : *1. 3DS features :* - Watch your puppies on 3D! - Use the AR card so you can put them anywhere and watch your puppies playing on your hand! - Streetpass : When you have a friend with the game or you cross someone with the game, when you walk your puppy on the 3DS, you will see that person walking the dog she/he had, and they can give you gifts! When you walk, your dogs can see each other and play! If they really like each other, meet up somewhere so they can play more! Also, when you meet them up in real life, you can meet up in the neighborhood park to play. - Pedometer : Close your 3DS and have a walk! If you have a real dog you recreated on the 3DS, walk the real dog while you have the 3DS closed. When you arrive back home and open your 3DS, you have walked your 3DS puppy! How larger the walk was, (the more places you visited) the more your virtual puppy has enjoyed the walk. *2. Realism and graphics* They are incredibly realistic. You can clearly see their fur and qualities. They act just like a real puppy. Much more than the old game. Also, you can so more stuff, like in walks, you can enter a cafe, go to the seaside, to the mountain or town, and if it rained, your puppy may get in the mud. Also, teach your puppy to listen to you. Pull the leash slightly and if they listened to you, give them a treat to tell them "well done!" Also, visit parks with puppies your dog gets along with in his/her walk! Also, change the bowl of your water and dog food! Recycle with presents you find on walks to get unique things! You can even get a new pass to buy a robot puppy, called RoboPup!!!! Train him like any dog. Get him for free, and have fun with him and your ither puppies! *3. Cats.* Derek has already mentioned it but, he doesn't see what this means! This adds another animal to the game. Give your kitten a name. Pet him, take him to the park with streetpass friends, play with it with cat toys, buy cat towers for it to climb on and beds....

I downloaded the demo from the 3DS shop and it surely did bring a smile to my face. Haven't played Nintendogs since launch back in '04 but the demo really did brighten my day. I'll probably pick this up during a sale.

The puppies are toooooooooo cute :3 I haven't played any games from this franchise and I wanted to. I'm just a little reluctant though. Maybe after I get the Pokemon X & Y and some other games. But I'll definitely have this.

I feel like they added enough new stuff. There are 9 new breeds one of which is a robot. They made teaching tricks easier to remember by letting you name them. the agility course is not a lure course. walking is now much more engaging. plus there are new items and the dogs act more realistic.

As I was watching this my wife was in the other room screaming at the dog for pissing in the wrong place.

I'm getting It when the price drops this august. 250 dollars is kinda too much for a handheld.

@yankeehatr07 if you look in that way, I'd say that Nintendogs looks as much close to real-life experience, as Gran Turismo or Flight Simulator look close to their real-life counterparts.

I Played And Have The Old Version Of Nitendogs On My DsLite But For My Birthday I Am Hoping To Get A 3Ds And This Game Because This For Me Is A Big Difference . I Like This One Much Better The Old One But The Old One Is Ok.

I know that this game dose the same things and is the same story line but there are diffrent features from the ds version and I got both the 3ds and ds version. You can walk it diffrently in a diffrent way,you can cange the bowls when you feed it wich is diffrent,theres a new sort of compotion lure coursing, you can buy furniture,thers a accesory shop and you even stroke it difrently. I think this review is for people who like more mario and stuff like that,not puppy people.

i have played nintendogs and nintendogs+cats i liked the improvement on the game the dogs are less souless with the eyes they have WAY MORE VARAIETY and robopups new dogs better mechanics and well just more fun with better graphics and the 3-D is amazing in certain places and it feels more real in 3-D it feels like tht puppy is really licking you and that present is popping out at you your actaully petting that little friend on that screen of yours i think that if you played nintendogs but it felt a little empty for you then CERTAINLY BUY NINTENDOGS+CATS because it has more stuff and more fun if you came for cats your going to be disappointed by the way they are to realistic they just play with toys eat and sleep and hiss well and drink so i give nintendogs+cats a 9.0

@eklipsegirl Of course you can "compare a game to a real-life experience." What do you think a simulator is? Derek even says this is a "pet simulator." I like playing Gran Turismo 5 or Microsoft Flight Simulator X because I don't have the money to race a Bugatti Veyron on Nurburgring Nordschleife or fly a Boeing 747. These simulations are the closest thing I can get to actually doing these actions. The appeal of a dog/cat simulator is significantly diminished when I have my own cat to play with.
