I love the minor chords that are different from our modern hymnal versions.

How I love this old Hymn and it sounds so good in four part harmony of so many singers.

I would like to see some Sacred Harp singers from the US get together with this great group. One of my favorite hymns. When sung slow it gives me time to meditate on the words.

This is actually a mix of people from many countries across Europe, U.S., and Canada, local singers plus visitors to Cork for the convention. :)

They do all the time. I would say 25% of the singers at any major European sing are Americans who travel to sing. It was Americans working with them who got these sings started in the first place, coming over to help out and show them the proper way to do a sing, help get the right tone and accent, etc, for the singers who had not had a chance to travel to the US to experience it themselves yet. It was not just spontaneously created by the European singers, it was basically exactly the same process by which the Southern singers with Hugh McGraw traveled to the North to help them sing in the early days of the revival. So they can carry on the tradition unbroken, but with their own evolutions and characteristics born in the regions where they adopted it.

Beautiful! I wish I could find a scared harp event in my area.

"Area"? I wish I could find one in my country. Music, supposedly an international language, has not translated this its 'simple' shape form, easy enough for kiddies, out of the English-speaking world. A whole heap of gorgeousness missing to the world.

Please consider editing to 'sacred'... or not; kinda cute.

@@johncollins8304 There are a few songs in other languages in the Shenandoah Harmony book and some singers are writing Sacred Harp tunes (either new tunes or translations of existing ones) in their own languages, Norway, Poland, Germany, and others. Also, have you listened to Georgian singing? Three-party harmonies all in the Georgian language. It's mostly taught by ear, but they have provided a phonetic version of the words to help non-native speakers sing along. Brilliant music with a mix of secular and sacred lyrics.

this is the version in the 7-shape CHRISTIAN HARMONY, p. 261t in the 2010 edition. Uses the tune known as NETTLETON

Hebrews 12:14 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. John 8:36 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:11 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. Matthew 5:48 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. John 8:34 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commiteth sin is the servant of sin. 1 John 3:9-10 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
