Having 50 cals on the ramp and left and right windows is realistic. But the side guns coming from the aux tanks are not real at all. The hoist is usually not installed because they aren’t useful one bit. 53 mech here. I’m sure someone has said this already but just clearing the air. Great to see this mid coming to life slowly.

This performs like one of those Abacus add ons for MSFS you had to pay for. But, this shows much more promise. The dev did a great job.

I like the CH-53. Would be great if a good one will be implimented in DCS. I would pay for it.

Super cool to see as my dad flew on a MH-53 Pavelow even though this is a different helicopter they are very familiar.

Really cool - that paint/skin is pretty horrendous, but I am sure some talent painters could generate some nice ones.

I worked on MH-53s in the Navy. it is true they can have left and right gunners with 50 cals. no, we did not get miniguns. also, the tail gunner is true as well with another 50 cal. It is a big beast of an aircraft. the only helicopter i ever worked on that you could stand up fully in it. anybody that knows helicopters would be impressed with the size of the main rotor head.

The author of the mod miscredited Cpt.Smiley. He made the F-16A mod (no longer working in 2.x), not an "F-22 demo". What's ironic about this mod is that it at least has as realistic a base as they come: a NASA Contractor Report paper, the same CR-3144 as the AH-6 mod this one is based on (and THAT is the helo you should have suggested to use for familiarizing with rotorcraft in DCS). The paper has the data for AH-1, UH-1, OH-6 (the AH-6 mod is based on), Bo-105 and CH-53. So, expect at least a Bo-105 from that list and maybe a Cobra at some point. Although the AH-6 mod also has its own quirks. For example, the paper doesn't come with any aero data usable for VRS modeling, also for IGE hover or for different density altitudes, so it's mostly good for flying with some airspeed involved right next to sea level. All that should apply to the "CH-53" here as well. Not sure why it behaves like it's a light helicopter, however... It also comes with the source code (just like the AH-6 of the Cpt. Smiley's template), so I guess the answer can be found there (not in the mood to dig into it at the moment). One more thing, the A-29 mod will only then have qualifications to be called "realistic" when it's switched to EFM. But considering there most likely is no aero data available on the thing, don't expect it to be anything but a toy even in that case either.

Not a bad mod, makes me laugh they shoot out of the external fuel tanks haha. Hope they update the sound and make it more clickable. Tail fold is good but need the blade fold and rotor brake. Keep it up guys! Do miss flying around in my beloved 53’s!!

I have flown in pavelows. It is very maneuverable with a good pilot. But the airplane feels heavy, like a large object hanging on a string. Time for some csar. Jolly and sandy to the rescue!

I found this thing is somewhat unflyable. Especially when taking off. It wabbles all over the place no matter how hard I tried to control the pedals and the cyclic.
