I was stationed in Quantico, Virginia for 4 years. I was a Marine on the TBS side of the base, I had the absolute pleasure of touring a CH-53K that landed on base and was being used as a test chopper. It had a orange weight sled in the bay and orange cables running all through the interior. Anything orange indicated it was being tested, the pilot was a Major and we spoke for awhile even let me sit in the pilot seat. One of the best days of my life. Semper Fi 🇺🇸

Another video said the Super Stallion requires 44 hrs of maintenance for every 1 hour of flight time. Hopefully if the King has fewer parts that means fewer maintenance hours per flight hour.

@@raywhitehead730 common sense, son. I guess that's not your thing. BTW, that aircraft is 100% FMC or it wouldn't be in the fleet. It hasn't been combat tested yet.

I was in the Corps for 8 years and was a crew chief on the CH-53D, which at the time was the military's premier heavy lift helo. The E model was just making it's debut in Naval Aviation as I was getting out. All I can say is Wow, how that bird has evolved. Very impressive!

Hope as they get retired they are turned into wildfire attack craft! Can you imagine being able to put a 21man hand crew with equipment on fires immediately all that is missing is the Helicopters like these to do the job! 🤔Every Helicopter has a hand crew to deploy as a single unit or split into 3- 7man squads & can work at night to support their hand crew/squads! We are way behind in the thinking about attacking wildfires! I'm a retired Ground pounder.

I was a Crew Chief on the CH-46 F, E and SR&M versions of the Sea Knight and when we deployed we were augmented with the CH-53E Sea Stallion and man they could lift some heavy loads, when they were operational and not being hanger queens. I wonder if this current version will be plaque with the same maintenance/technical issues?

@@desertfox4583Semper Fi brother and I still have a healthy respect for the shitters and their crews. They could lift like crazy, were fast and pretty much self deploying with aerial refueling. Yeah man, it was fun times when we went composite for a cruise with the Phrogs, Shitters, Hueys and Snakes and of course the Harriers LOL. All the helo crews and mechs came together as one big team but the Harrier dudes were just plain dicks all of the time except for a couple.

The Kilo has proven nothing but to meet the same capabilities as the Echo. The Kilo just uses more electrical components and technology to do it.
