Creator's Notes:
The timeline of the original timeline flashbacks is set in CQL canon, after the cliff jumping scene. This story is darker than canon. Proceed with caution.

SPOILERS AHEAD.))
Lan Wangji uses a forbidden technique to time travel back to the year of Wei Wuxian's birth following his suicide at Nightless City. He covers up WWX's birth identity, wishing for him to live a peaceful and undisturbed existence.
However, time traveling didn't just change the original timeline, but also opened a new parallel universe.
The new universe is different from the original, most noticibly in how Wangxian have been in an arranged marriage from a young age.
The new timeline's WWX, due to the actions of the original LWJ, ended up at Mo Manor, assuming the identity of Mo Xuanyu, who passed away in infancy. He engages in a series of domestic disputes (jk) and turns to the dark side.
Time traveler LWJ leaves, and the new timeline's LWJ grows up to adulthood, meeting "MXY" at Mo Manor.
"MXY" is enamored with LWJ, and wants to find him. He happens to find out that LWJ's fiance is the missing son of Cangse Sanren, and schemes to take the identity of this missing WWX.
The death of this world's Jin Zixun makes LWJ remember his original self's time traveling, and he "meets" his original self. He then begins to gradually recover his memories of the previous timeline.
"MXY" works to hide his identity, but his "true identity" is discovered close to the wedding date. LWJ explains the time travel and past timeline to his brother, and during it, WWX wakes up and understands the situation. They live happily ever after.
When watching this video:
Please temporarily forget the canon plot and story.
Additionally:
Please wipe my previous version of this from your memory lol (except for my Suibian headcanons).
Reminders:
-WWX did not personally recall the time travel; he only heard it through LWJ, as he grew up under the identity of MXY in this timeline.
-LWJ only gradually recalled his other life after Jin Zixun's death, so he initially was not aware of his original feelings for WWX. So for him, it didn't matter whether their relationship was love at first sight or an arranged marriage gone right; the person he liked was simply the WWX right in front of him.
-Essentially, this is about the world original LWJ started, and when he changed young WWX's life. Then, young WWX and young LWJ grew up and got together.
Rambling below:
MXY's moral blackening shows how great of an influence biological family can have on children (jk)
Thus, the kindness of others was a pillar of support for him. Hanguang-jun saved him and cared for him, so he surrendered his regard to LWJ.
Shijie was attentative towards him, so he didn't go after Jin Zixuan.
Moral blackening is a rush, but it was really a reaction to his environment pushing him beyond his limits.
Also, don't ask me how Jin Zixun died; I just wanted to kill him--I annoyed him to death. About the other dead NPCs, they're dead. The point of the fanvideo is moral blackening: when people dare come looking for trouble, they get killed. (jk).
If anyone is troubled by this, you can headcanon an explanation for yourself.
Pardoning of past misdeeds? Escaping together? Whatever. You can even start another parallel universe if you please.
I just believe that watching stories about moral blackening requires throwing away any semblences of morality first~
((**Translator's notes:
This story is loosely a darker reimagining of the Beijing opera "FengHuanChao", literally "The Phoenix Returns to its Nest". One of its major plot points is the older of two half-sisters taking the identity of the younger, who is more admired, to land a desired marriage.
"黑化", literally "becoming black" is a common way to describe the process of a character turning to the "dark side" of morality: Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader is a great example.
I've translated this as "moral blackening", "turning to the dark side", and "moral ambiguity" depending on context.
I translated everything from the author (above) as it is written and formatted (with minor changes) in the Chinese description.
Shijie = martial older sister. I kept the original term in to preserve the atmosphere of the scene.))
