It's just the circumstances that made Amuro become much more powerful than his basic genetic limits. He was technically inferior to Char the whole time. By time CCA unfolds; both Kamille and Judau are roughly at Amuro's level, which is above the average by a lot. Above the average, if Lalah were the average of Cyber-enhanced Newtype with her 70% accuracy in remote sensing as per Flanagan's testing of her in the original show and 80% were the starting mark of a genuinely awakened rather than artificially awakened Newtype. Kamille and Judau as well as Minerva Zabi were born to this high class genuine Newtype status of 80% awakened potential, only two of them grew beyond that point due to beig forced to mature in combat + explicit guidance from Amuro and Char. Amuro is at 90% accuracy when outside of Gundam, boosted to around 95% in the Nu Gundam. Char matches the average of upper class Newtype, being at 80% outside of the Sazabi but pushes up to 90% when in it. *In the beginning:* Amuro only started off at 45% accuracy in remote sensing/Newtype awakening the first time he entered the RX 78-2. Char was at 60%(65% is where Newtype flashes tend to awaken). Char only reaches the 65% threshold the first time in the Jaburo incident where his fight or flight sensations pushed him beyond general limit of his present level in the Z'Gock. He barely puahed up to this level of capability just to escape from Amuro who had already attained that same level a few eposodes prior(due to Matilda's death) but Amuro was only able to maintain it while inside the Gundam. Amuro was technically still at Char level at that point in the story, he only rose to truly be at the 65% mark when first resonating with Lalah and then moving on to the 70% awakening when defeating 9 out of the 12 Space adapted Dom units in protecting a crippled White base. Amuro later pushes beyond his Gundam boosted level of 70% awakening of Newtype potential as his encounter with Challia Bull's 80% accuracy rate of remote sensing forced him to rapidly mature beyond the limits of Gundam's learning computer. The learning comuter manipulates environmental controls to optimize brain function of its pilot for the sake of enhancing odds of survival. That ability could no longer keep up with, much less enhance Amuro's psyche beyond the 75% awakening point. It was all up to Amuro when he barely pushed his powers of perception to the 80% point of accuracy and defeated Challia. Challia who was mostly toying with him the whole time to see what the limits of a Newtype were(a foolish decision as he wasn't able to maintain his own calm when Amuro reached up to momentarily match his level of prowess). Char barely grew from 60 to 65% awakening and balanced that off as his foundation by time he entered the Gelgoog. He then surged to match Lalah's own label of 70% remote sensing/Newtype awakening via use of her guidance in combat against Amuro. This 70% rating was fortified at the point of Lalah's demise because her psyche was scattering throughout the combat zone, enhancing the Newtype potential of anyone within range to sense her passing from the material world. Char was then temporarily boosted to 80% via use of the psychommu system in the Zeong but that was too little and too late by that point since Amuro already rose from the 80% mark via spending an entire lifetime within a split second as Lahlah's point of demise pulled him into an altered state of mind where the two souls momentarily merged as one. Amuro came out of that ordeal with his power boosted to the 90% range of awakened potential and this was fully matched by Gundam because it was enhanced by magnetic coating to reduce mechanical friction between all its joints and thus boosting responsiveness to his "precognitve" aka intuitive attributes in combat. He still crashed into a 7 year depression shortly after his experience of Lalah's demise, defeat of Char and watching Char snipe the lady Zabi who was oart of the family behind the war. Those 7 years of depression were also used to allow his nervous system to properly adapt to the intense pressure his artificially awakened potential put on it. This is part of why his originally brown eyes were forced to turn indigo by time events of the CCA movie in the 13th year since he encountered Char and Lalah. I suspect Amuro's previous genetic max for Newtype awakening was only the 60% mark, that his DNA would require him to generate progeny before it could morph the upper limits of his lineage to be at the 90% mark(but the children would only start off at 60% like Char did, and barely make it to 80% without guidance of others who grew beyond that point of awakening). That's all my own head canon from observing how the story unfolds. It no longer fits the new version where Amuro was always a Newtype and was born with sea green eyes instead of brown. The new version is trash as it downplays the faculties of a Newtype and seems to be angling toward saying that Amuro was genetically gifted more than pushed to mature beyond his genetic potential because of how the events played out. There is no good message in pretending that effort has no effect on emergence of one's capacity to be competent, that is why I prefer my take on the more or less average Amuro who was powered up by the struggle to survive v.s Char and his high class bloodline, Char who struggled to keep up with the winds of fate as he sought a vengence which was limiting his rate of awakening~intuitive perception. If Char only took Challia Bull's advice seriously the first time, he too would have broken past the 90% awakening mark and Amuro would have never been able to take out Lalah as he did.

There's a point there where Amuro asks Char if he is certain about his decision... which implies that Amuro is a Newtype Ghost at this point... Add in the fact that three orbs of light leave the broken Sinanju before Lalah leaves...
