Really like this Drama! The roles are kind of exchanged: she is older than him and has a lot stronger character. He is a bit of a weakling and not as strong minded. I think its a nice change

For some reason, i feel Eun Woo’s character in this drama has a correlation to his real life personality. He would try his best to win a girl over (it would take time) and the shyness and innocence...so adorable. I bet he is a true romantic.

I love this drama so much, the actors are perfect for the roles and the balance within the drama is just perfectly done (there’s suspense, comedy, drama, romance, etc..) while having a great message. The only downside to it is that we have to wait a week (2 episodes a week) to get to see the new episode.

Been watching "Rookie Historian" and enjoying it very much. I am captivated by the interesting characters, intriguing plot, intricate period costumes, beautiful production sets, and, of course, the gorgeous performers. Shin Se-Kyung is the right choice of actor to play Goo Hae Ryung. She exhibits grace, charm, and beauty. Shin Se-Kyung is able to portray her character as a proud, principled noblewoman who combats blatant injustices and chauvinism. Those are traits to be much admired. Her character is one for which real-life individuals need to be in today's society. Goo Hae Ryung is not invincible. She is vulnerable to isolation and loneliness. She feels suffocated. Just made it through the scene where Goo Hae Ryung (Shin Se-Kyung) sobs immensely while in Prince Dowon's residence. Prince Dowon can relate to that loneliness. Quite an emotional scene. Demonstrates Shin Se-Kyung's adeptness and versatility in portraying complex characters. Only recently discovered this actor when she starred in "High Kick 2."

One of the best kdramas i watched. This drama is light, sweet and fun to watch. There is no second lead syndrome also, tragic or extreme dramas between every characters. Story line is perfect and interesting with surprising twists yet strong and meaningful. Talking about characters and roles, everyone is fit in their character. For instance, prince dowon Yi Rim is innocent, free-spirited, silly, extremely kind but smart which cha eun woo portrayed very well he showed his versatility here indeed a great actor he is. whereas, Goo Hae Ryung is smart, intelligent, strong-willed, rebellious, brave but kind and comprehensive which shin se kyung is perfectly fitted in this role as her top notch acting did it once more. Overall, everyone like king, grandmother, father, officers, historians specially eunuch also did well. So, i like every characters and their development. prince dowon and goo hae ryung's interactions and moments makes your heart flutter. Even though there is less romance, their sweet gestures and sweet moments will be just enough. Their relationship is humble and moreover there is no toxic relationship. Lastly, eun woo smile melts you and stops your breath for once lol. Also, soundtracks are very beautiful. So, I highly recommend all of you to watch this drama. To me it is 10 out of 10.

This drama is perfectly balanced in humour, romance and seriousness for a k-drama. The main plot in the beginning isn't even their relationship, it's the female historian's life in old Korea... very misogynistic. The way they portray her situation is very accurate (I haven't lived in old Korea, what I mean is that they aren't portraying it as a fairy tale) and they handle the seriousness of the inequality between men and women really well. Especially considering it's a k-drama and feminism is a heated subject in Korea. It's educational in a way and really shedding light on the subject of inequality, power-plays within a government as well as CORRUPTION, so. much. corruption. Yet everything is handled beautifully in my opinion, it isn't jokes around with, and when there is people joking around with it it's delivered in a way which makes you understand just how wrong some of the situations and norms portrayed in the drama are. Highly recommend this k-drama, I was impressed by the story mostly but I have nothing negative to say about the actors either. They're pretty (of course, it's a k-drama) and Sae-kyeong does a wonderful job playing the female historian and Eun-woo is making the prince really come off as sweet and extremely innocent, peculiar even (and I have to say, he is EXTREMLY good looking, like a fairy).

I started watching it. Its kinda funny. But it had its serious moments. . the Prince. Is like a kid. Up to. Now. I will keep watching

I'm absolutely enjoying this drama. The chemistry between the characters is just Soo addictive. If you're having second thoughts about watching this drama, don't. And if you have read the comments of some people complaining about Eunwoo's acting, then honestly, watch this drama for yourself and be the judge of it. I can barely contain my excitement when I have to wait for a whole week for Netflix to release the new episodes 😭 But at the end of the day, it's all worth it !

For those wondering if they should watch this show, I definitely recommend it! I feel like Eun-woo captures his character (Yi Rim) perfectly; Yi Rim has spent his entire life isolated with little to no interaction with anyone outside his only three servants (his eunuch and two female servants) and has been very much coddled and treated as a child. I won’t give away too much, but I feel like that many people who are annoyed at Yi Rim being “childish” or that Eun-woo’s portrayal of the prince is too innocent (or whatever lol) is forgetting that that’s the point of his character! He’s becoming an adult and in the latest episode (not to spoil anything) you can clearly see something click in Yi Rim and he begins his delayed transition into adulthood - or rather him crashing into adulthood with a crushing acceptance of his existence and the reality around him. This show is very enjoyable and all the side characters are able to hold their own and are very interesting that i don’t feel bored when the show isn’t focused on the main characters/couple.

His character is so much different from his previous drama. I would love to see more of his character in this series. So far, so good. Its like watching your childish younger brother. Never fails to make me smile.
