wow what amazing trip to Amsterdam, that park with all the flowers were so nice, the colors came through on your camera really nice and pretty, so I can imagine it smelled very nice too. I loved that boat ride, when I visited Amsterdam we rode that boat it was so quiet I had to fight to stay awake so I wouldn't miss anything lol. Plus the food was so fresh and good there too. one day I plan to go back. Thanks for the memories. 🌎🍲🌷🌼🌺🌹⛴

Good to see that you guys are enjoying the herring - most visitors to our country are not really a fan (To put it mildly) ;-) The small cars used to be for people having mobility issues only, and required a permit to use them. Though nowadays there are a few models that have been specifically built to skew the rules and are used by locals trying to avoid parking fees and such.

I visited the Keukenhof Gardens 35 years ago....in the drizzle! I think the colors are more vibrant against a gray sky. When I was there it was Queen Beatrix's celebration and people celebrated by holding yard sales! I loved that aspect of Dutch frugality and practicality as a way of acknowledging the monarchy. Is that still the way the day is celebrated?

I know in Portugal--so possibly in all of Europe? or just certain countries?-- those little cars are in a different category and younger teens can drive them, etc as you don't need a drivers license for them. Maybe they are classified like bikes, so they can use the bike paths? I found it curious because the one pointed out to me was driving on the road with other traffic but you don't need a drivers license? Will have to look up more about....had kind of forgotten til you brought it up in this video. Great video!

0:45: ..a 300 years old building....: definitely not! This building was built in 1887. The rooftrusses are typical 19th-century trusses, called Philibert trusses.

The Dutch Republic had more merchant ships sailing Europe than the rest of Europe combined, that frequent bulk trade made the Dutch Republic rich, the spice trade was peanuts. The small cars are often driven by people unlucky enough not to be able to ride a bike. They are legally classified as a moped to keep those people mobile, it is taken advantage of by healthy people though.

I visited Amsterdam early May of this year and I was actually disappointed and grossed out. All the streets were covered in garbage and there were streets that stuck so bad of sewage. It was also extremely busy and I felt overwhelmed in certain parts of the city. I felt a little unsafe in certain parts and got some weird vibes from people. If I could make a suggestion here, Utrecht is much nicer and has similar atmosphere and less busy than Amsterdam.

Totally valid points! I would love to check out Utrecht next time. I still say if someone's never been they should definitely visit Amsterdam, but next time we visit we'd love to explore other cities/towns as well.
