This was my exact thought as I watched the interview. Chadwick was intentional in what he was saying. I know it mostly came from speaking with a person from South Africa and not trying to be offensive. Yet, it also came from his need to express the African- American experience here, and our journey to connect to the motherland while being as authentic as possible.

Something to think about. Chadwick Boseman has played Thuorgood Marshall and Jackie Robinson, two towering figures in the history of black America but it was his portrayal of a fictional hero that made the biggest impact. That shows you the power of representation in an aspirational fantasy. Black Panther deserves all the praise it's received and more. It's probably in my top three MCU films now. I don't know how they could've made a better film unless Michael B. Jordan had been in it more.

True....the accents tho. When I heard Winston Duke as M'Baku, I was like "Nahhh this dude is Nigerian". I was very surprised when I found out he wasn't. The accent was very spot on even down to the "We would not have it oh!", the way Nigerians speak at times. They did their homework thoroughly. I'm totally impressed with their attention to detail.

This interview is iconic. The movie was incredibly iconic. The people behind the actors are iconic. The truth is, this was a movie that spoke the vision and narrative black people have always had about themselves: we know, and have always known that's who we are. It's the rest of the world that needs to see that and acknowledge it. Chadwick Boseman was very instrumental and necessary to King T'Challa in that he brought the perfect grace, humility, vibe and essence that is recognisably and undeniably African. It had to be Chadwick. We can never thank him enough. Rest In Power bro. 🙏🏿🖤

May I just take a moment to say. Not a lot of interviewers show as much respect to actors or the films of Superhero movies. I really do appreciate the interest and deep insights Trevor took from the film and wanted to discuss with Chadwick, this is probably one of the first times I've seem an interviewer treat the medium as an artwork and not as a bloated "flavor of the month" superhero movie. Thank you Trevor. Thank you Chadwick, and Ryan Coogler, and the rest of the Black Panther cast, loved this movie, seen it 5 times, watching it again tomorrow.... #WakandaForever

To all black americans having this same problem of not being able to trace your origin. As your african brother first know that we love you and we stand with you. we admire your strength and ability. since the tribes in africa migrated and intermarried alot its difficult to find an exact origin even for us modern africans so thats okay.. but just look at the small details in your own body and DNA then you'd know which tribe you share those with. or if you travel to africa ask some elders this question and they'd tell you based on some details in you. despite just as white people black people arent all the same.
