Chagrin River Ice over dam in Gates Mills 2/17/2011

13 жыл бұрынOn February 17, 2011, I was able to get in front of a tidal wave of ice the size of my car heading down the Chagrin River in Gates Mills, Ohio. I stood at the damn in the heart of Gates Mills. Unfortunately, the damn was breached and swept away by flood waters only 4 days ago.

Thanks for posting! This almost certainly contributed to the dam's collapse 2 weeks later.

Two weeks later, the dam crumbled. The river is now free flowing from lake Erie to Chagrin Falls. We have steelhead trout fishing and a much healthier, prettier river! Losing that dam was the best thing to happen to the Chagrin, ever.

its a wonder of nature, yer only seeing the top parts of the ice, most of the ice in under water, some hunks as big as a house. just goes to show water is the most powerfull force ever know to man, you can contain it but you can not stop it.
