I noticed that the chain on my Trail 125 was already slacking quite a bit (despite my low mileage), so I decided to tighten it up a smidge. For some reason I kept using the word "bolt" in place of "nut" when talking through the procedures. Random brain glitch I suppose.
Honda Recommended Chain Freeplay: 30 mm (1 1/4")
Torque Spec for Axle 55 N⋅m or 44 ft⋅lbs

Thanks for the video and for mentioning the axle torque spec, 44 ft-lbs! I'll adjusting mine for the first time at 600 miles. I've heard it mentioned to adjust each side by 1/2 turn at a time to be assured the the wheel remains properly centered. And since we're talking torque, the torque spec for the oil drain plug is 18 ft-lbs.

I am late to the party on this, but this video is exactly what I needed. We bought my wife’s ‘22 with 1,250 miles on it. The chain was super slacky and dry. I thought I generally knew how to do this job, but your simple step by step video got me through it and now the wife’s bike cruises right along with no extra humming. Thanks!

I've had my 125 for a week - it's got 106 miles on it. While installing a 13 tooth sprocket, I noticed the chain was super - dangly. Thanks for the instructional! If this rain ever stops, I'll be back on the roads & trails with (hopefully) more bottom end to get up that hill!

Excellent tutorial. Great added measuring tip at the end. I learned early on between the chain on my Monkey and the Trail125 they tend to stretch and need adjustment more than I like bending over. So I installed an o-ring on both. A bit of a taboo topic as most say oring chains create drag on this small engine. I've not noted much variance in others claimed top speeds with the oem chain vs the oring though. Way less adjustments and most likely will outlast a standard chain. One other helpful thing was I had the shop balance my tires as they were a bit bouncy on the hardtop. Like a notable hop to them. They had to use a truing device since our axle holes are so small. Front and rear rims both received some weights and smoothed out substantially.

seeing that the original chain was not of good quality, I had mine changed before I picked up the bike 950 Km no adjustment need so far. I did this because a stretched chain also will damage the sprockets, so I paid the extra to save in the long run, and well of having to adjust it a lot less. Time and money saved. That is why I love watching these videos before getting a bike.

Great video, but I was told to do bough sides together, that way the wheel stays straight, but still check the marks at the end to double check. Do not think there would be a problem on todays bikes but around 40 years ago I had a bike that the lines were out, putting the wheel out of alignment. And the shop missed this on inspection, made me wonder what else they missed or it they did a inspection at all.

Are you certain it's 14 mm spanner for chain side ? I'd say 17mm .
