Can't believe I missed this one, Nolan. Yes, love to see how you do end caps and very interested in more chai and other technique videos. This is the first time I have watched a double foxtail chain being put together and actually understood where the third link went. Thanks heaps.

Brilliant, thank you. I am a beginner so this is helpful. Can I add a pendant and charms to both the chains? I like seeing you use different tools, I also like the simplistic approach. That was great you showed me how to properly make jump rings too.

Thank you! Real nice; tempo, zoom, in focus, commenting and flow. Tools: you put links to Riogrande, but I miss the link to parralel plier you use to compress chain with. I have never seen a parralel plier where the jaws are 'forced' to stay parralel like that. My pliers tends to get unparralel.

That is actually a fantastic question! Pulling through a draw plate would actually be much more effective than manually squeezing the whole chain. I actually filmed a few clips using the draw plate but ended up cutting them because it was challenging to see what I was doing under this camera set up. Great call though!

Could you also draw it down to make a finer foxtail chain? Not just put it through a draw plate to straighten? I’d love to make a super fine one but it would be soooo fiddly! Thank you

Amazing! What do you think would be the smallest diameter you could make like this, by hand? I have seen these being sold online as thin as 1mm, but I think that would be impossible...how thin do you think would be in the realms of possible?

Amazing video, you've got such a talent for explaining things. This was so helpful and a video on end caps would be great! 😁 How big would you make the rings if you were to use a 28 gauge wire?
@RaftarkJewelry

For the white gold chain I am working on I made rings with a 6mm internal dimension in 28g round. It has worked perfectly so far! When drawn, the chain is about 1.5mm thick

For the 24 gauge chain, what internal diameter did you use on the rings? This was a great vid.
@meredithnavin1358
@meredithnavin1358 4 ай бұрын
My guess would be 7.5mm. To get the aspect ratio of a jump ring, you use the equation Aspect Ratio (AR) = Inner Diameter (ID)/Wire Diameter (WD) So for his big links, the guage is 0.8mm and the inner diameter is 12mm. AR=12/0.8 AR=15 24 guage is approximately 0.5mm 15=ID/0.5 15 x 0.5 =7.5mm

Possible? I suppose technically possible, but it would be a very fragile chain and likely significantly more work to form the links
