I actually LOVE jesse and lucys love affair. I love how the romance involves her abilities and determination. Idk I’m here for it. OH BUT THAT HALF WAY LOVE TRIANGLE with Cordelia…I’m living for it. I think this trip to Paris MAY reveal some newfound feelings for Matthew.

Hm idk I feel like it’s not enough time to have anything come up in book 3. If it was more than a trilogy, then maybe!

I just love how you do a spoiler free and gush/gripe video. I'm sure it takes a lot of time, but it's great that I can either skip your non-spoiler if I've read it, or hear your non-spoiler opinions if I'm considering reading it :)

Yes, I totally agree about how Jem was around all the time now but it didn't seem that way in ID.

Unpopular opinion, I really like Grace as a character and am super hype for a Grace/Christopher romance!

i’m glad you enjoyed it for the most part - and i agree it’s the characters that really get me invested. a couple of things i wanna say bc i know you’ve not read the modern times shadowhunters stuff is 1) the malcolm fade stuff will probably not get a resolution in this series bc it’s the main plot of the dark artifices 2) i think jem is involved basically up until will dies and once tessa leaves her family they no longer have contact and jem withdraws from the herondales and watches from afar type thing - this is more obvious in the short story collections where you see some stuff post Will’s death - so when tessa and jem reunite in 2008 they’ve had minimal contact since like the 1930s

I’m really loving Cordelia as a lead, she’s fun to follow. The angsty love between Thomas and Alistair is just exquisite, and that bit in the cells was chefs kiss. Lucie is also great, looking forward to see where her powers lead in the next book. I agree with grace, this book made me finally like her, still hate her and James, but I think her and Christopher could be a cute match. I wanna see where the Malcolm Fade stuff goes, because sadly that ties into a huge part of The Dark Artifices trilogy

Also you probably know this by now from other comments but Malcolm and Annabeth are a huge focus in TDA especially the first two books! It's Malcolm's girlfriend Annabeth who is on the cover of Queen of Air and Darkness 👀😮

I think Cassie personally set out to torture me personally with the JamesxCordelia angst. Lol. The one thing I needed from this book was for Cordelia to know and did she give that to me? No. But the angst will be delicious in the next book so I'm ready for it. CC's supernatural villains really aren't very well fleshed out. I think her best villains have been Valentine and then whatever their names were in TDA and in both cases it's because they were Shadowhunters. Like, the supernatural villains are necessary but whatever. The Shadowhunter villains actually make you question how things will turn out and I wish she'd do that more.

Loved your review!! Just wanted to say the reason why Lilith is not that big of a deal haha is bc she plays a huge part of the TMI series and *SPOILERS* she is killed lol. Basically we’ve already seen her as a villain and defeated her :))

totally get what you said about Cordelia stabbing the Prince of Hell, like yeah thank you, now we know that you'll stab him a third time in the next book... BUT there's a story in Ghosts of the shadow market that totally killed my theory !! not going into anything spoilery but now i'm really interested to know how they'll stop Belial

I really want to find out more about the Princes of Hell, will play out in the Eldest Curses series. I’m also really excited and curious to find out how the tainting of the Adamant Citadel goes

@@ThoughtsOnTomes yes. It’s a sort of in between series. Each book takes place throughout the overall timeline, so red scrolls of magic is set in the Mortal Instruments timeline and lost book of the white is set between the Dark Artifices timeline and the last book, the black volume of the dead is supposedly going to be set in the Wicked powers trilogy which is supposed to be the last Shadowhunter series.

"Lilith's Paladin, girl embrace that, that's fun!" Cackling rn 😭💀 Lilith was a more effective villain here than in TMI though, she got dunked on so hard in City of Fallen Angels, though I guess she also got shot here lmao. She needs to just stay away from Shadowhunter teenagers they repeatedly beat her up.

While I may be a huge Shadowhunter Chronicles/Cassie Clare fan, I think Queen of Air & Darkness burned me out to a point where I'm skipping over this series and just waiting for the finale series to come...in like 2025 or something like that. Chain of Gold was fine but it was: too damn long & with these set of characters I feel like we as the Fandom didn't get to know them properly unless you've read up on them on her website or the short story collections.

this series would be poly and full of naughty stuff if it would be adult... i know it's a bit of a trashy series, but i'm invested... not gonna pretend otherwise... the ending killed me... there will be a resolution, but honestly it's pretty messy atm... i love all the relationships and the banter
