@@BigRagufromAT I'm only just starting Dremel carvings, but watching your videos is very inspiring. I will try chainsaw carving one day , but for now just seeing your process is worth a lot to me. I draw a lot of inspiration from watching other artists at work, and it sparks my own creative ideas, so thank you for sharing.

Oh Jeff, that is so gorgeous! As a bird lover, wildlife art lover, and fellow artist I can say you absolutely knocked this out of the park. You captured that owl settling down onto the stump showing its power and grace and majesty. And at the same time the lightness and airiness and motion right at the instant it touched down is so convincing. Love it!!!

You should have way more views! I've been an artist on all surfaces in my life but I just started carving my first few pieces recently. It's a fun thing to do and I highly respect the amount of work you put in. An artwork is only finished when the artist says that's enough! True artist! Thanks for the video.

Jeff, No need to tell you how fantastically talented you are..... the " accuracy " as you call it is beyond what 99 1/2 % of people on this earth are even capable of. However..... Yeah.... just an opinion from a fellow ( wannabe ) artist. The progression on this piece is so rewarding even to watch. as the detail begins to be noticable and then wonderd at. Anyway... When your work is in raw wood the near perfection is wonderfully apparent.... the spraypainting and what not begins to overshadow the first impression amazment and begins to lesson the overall quality. You know that "look " when someone waves a propane torch over a wood grain?..... showing the contrast ? Just me maybe..... but I sure hate to see that fine sculpture camoflauged beneath spray paint. and it is . Otherwise.... dont get me wrong.... your work is perhaps as fine as I,ve ever seen.... and certainly far better than I will ever do. Good job !

Thanks for watching and for the kind words. I really like painting my pieces as it is a necessary evil that I have had to embrace. It's important to seal the wood and the dry brush technique is a great way to do it. It helps make all that detail pop. If I just clear coat pine you loose way to much and all that effort is lost in the grain. Thanks again!

@BigRagufromAT

Thanks, I guess I don't keep track normally. I am compensated enough where I don't need to be too concerned about the time. It's more about executing the vision at that point. The amount of time is irrelevant when creating something that requires layers of effort and alterations. Thanks for watching!

Oh man, this one is stunning! What a great carving for a memorial. The idea of putting some of the ashes inside is excellent also. Question: Is the black paint the same kind of paint or is it a sealant/undercoating?

Hey Jeff, I just seen the first video of you carving the owl, it is awesome, did you think of putting a squirrel on the stump in front of the owl, so it looks like the owl was fixing to catch it, not trying to tell you how to do your art, because you are awesome
@BigRagufromAT
@BigRagufromAT 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. I never considered it because of the fact that it's a memorial and the customers' Mothers' ashes where in the bottom of the carving. I did not want the owl to represent a predator or hunting in any way. Just an owl landing. It was my favorite animal.
