I have been watching just about every Golf GTE review available on KZfaq over the past months, as this is my top choice of hybrid (GTE Advance, Mk7.5) at the moment/still that I want to move up to (my restriction: any hybrid will need to fit in my garage with accessibility to its charging point). And whilst all those videos have been very informative and useful, your video has been the most useful, very sincere and, for me, cementing my decision. Now I just need to find the right 2nd hand car for the right price, spec and mileage.

I bought a Golf GTE Advance just over a month ago now and loving it. I'm averaging just over 180 mpg. My work is 12 miles away so I can do most journeys on electricity. 👍

really good review....ive got a 1.4 tsi mk7 golf but do fancy a gte as i live near work so could use e mode for that and give it a run out proper on the weekends

I think you are a bit biased. Tuning this engines can get you the same acceleration as R version and you can use it fast or electric...so you can be very economic too. Some guys in Netherlands are good at tuning those - you can add stage 1 +80 hp (because in gte mode the elctric engine is only half used --so 30hp from the petrol engine and 50 from electric => >80hp gain).

Got one mk 7.5 , bit stodgy and unengaging to drive tbh, but it is well made and transition to i.c.e from electric is sweet at 23-24 miles. 5 yr £1000 belt service is v high though !

GTE mode with 0 Km on the battery? No wonder it didn’t feel sporty. It uses the battery to compensate for the turbo lag.

Nice I'm thinking of buying a GTE advance 2019 in grey, worried about the battery use, as the battery gets older you get less out of it, just like mobile phones, so a car 3 years old must of had a lot of use, electric is poor in the winter, but only do sort journeys anyway, 10 miles a day at best. does it come with a heated steering wheel, by any chance?

I notice you had the self park button, did you try it out at all and if so was it accurate?

in my eye is the seat leon/cupra leon is better... bacekly same car. just cheeper, but better on the road and nicer to look at..
