I unhauled just about my whole library and pretty much read digital only 😅 having to go through parents & grandparents belongings really changed my mind about how much stuff I keep in my house but I totally empathize with everyone who lives to have their big cozy library ♥️

we’re kind of the opposite when it comes to unhauling books hahah! i pretty much only keep books i’ve rated 4 or 5 stars.

I love watching unhauls, even when people unhaul my favourite books. One of the cool things about having a home library is that we can curate that library to be how we want. And if this helps, when I'm unhauling books, I don't think about the money spent as "wasted" but rather as rent I paid for the time I had it and that it's spent its time with me and it's time for it to go. Plus it's like they have a second life when you give them away or put them in a little library or something. :)

I unhaul as I go mostly - my husband and I have a spot in our apartment that we stack the ones we’ve read that we know aren’t keepers and once we fill a bag or two we go to hpb. We basically have to though since my husband and I are both readers and our apartment is small.

I love unhauling 🙊 constantly reading and then passing onto my relatives or charity shop or hospital library service

I pretty much only keep books I loved. So I do a lot of unhauling. I don't really feel like I'm losing out on what I spent since I take mine to a used book store and am able to take home new books. 😊

I tend to unhaul anything I can’t deem a favorite. It has to be a 5 star standout

I usually don't like unhaul videos that much but this is a great format for an unhaul. I love seeing people go through their actual shelves deciding which books to get of and you made it really entertaining ❤️

I think a good idea for the next one would be to read the first 10-15 pages (or a chapter, whichever is longer) of a book you want to unhaul, to see if it grips you enough to keep it.

You should do a video where you get some series your in the middle of and if you haven't continued them in a year or something like that you have to unhaul them. Clearing shelf space and knocking off series in one go!

I have a rule I only keep 4/5 stars and the rest I unhaul!

I want my shelves to be a positive, happy place, even if they are mostly thriller and horror, so if its 3 stars or lower it's gone. It helps that I don't make content. I don't even take pictures of worst books of the year for IG. They don't deserve the shelf space lol.

I personally feel very ready to unhaul all the YA that I read years ago since my YA era has ultimately come to a close, but I struggle to unhaul books I've read more recently (even if I didn't love them) and books I haven't read 😅

Do you have a list of books you own? I found it very helpfull with keeping in check with my TBR and adding newly bought books to it. You can sort it out as you want - I just have a numeric list with author and the title (went shelf by shelf and wrote down every book on it) and when I read a book from that list I just highlight. And I can see if I'm reading long owned books or new buys. I also read library books, ebooks and listen to audiobooks, so there isn't much progress, but recently had a briliant idea of listening to audio of the books I physically own if available. Anyways, such list and be helpful with unhauling - you can see what are the books you've not yet read (and probably will not), and if you make it more complex, you can add bought+read date and rating, so you'll know with a glimps of an eye which are possible unhauls (or instead of rating - does it qualify for unhauling). Then you won't have to spend hours wondering how to make shelf space. But then we won't be enjoying watching you panicking...

I always unhaul a book that was 3 stars or less because I know I won’t read them again, and I unhaul mysteries and thrillers because after you’ve read it the first time it’s not a surprise for what happens at the end!

I am absolutely shocked. When you pulled out The Dance of the Serpents I almost choked. I've never seen anyone talk about this series which is really sad. The series is one of the best I've read! It's funny, witty, full of suspense, well written characters and awesome plot. Sad to see you unhaul it :/ I wish I could make you read the first one

the only book i own and have kept that isn't reference is hitchhikers guide to the galaxy(the combined full set) which is my absolute favorite book. lol i take FULL ADVANTAGE of my local library. 🤑

I honestly don’t have any emotional connection to most of my books! Unfortunately I can’t afford new books a lot, so I always sell the ones I didn’t love in order to make space for new ones 💕 probably if I could buy a lot of them I would tho… which is dangerous 😂

If it makes you feel any better, I've been having diminishing returns from the Oscar de Muriel series. Got the 4th book on my TBR and it will make or break whether or not I want to continue with the series. The first one is worth a read, but it's not a fair play mystery so keep that in mind going in, if you do read it.

It's kind of funny watching you agonize over this because every couple of months I just do brutal unhuals and get rid of 50+ books at a time. I try to keep my read books to books I know I'll reread and my TBR to books I know I'll actually pick up. Otherwise I have books that I've owned for over a decade that I've never read and it just feels like a waste of space. But I do understand the desire to keep all the books. Having a big library is just comforting.

Moving and living in a different country changed my book collection drastically. I read almost always ebook now, and I only buy my ultimate favs in physical form (a. Never know if I'll move county again and b. I live in a country where English is scarce so book shipping fees are 💰💰💰).

I’m like you I don’t willingly unhaul books really ever. If I spent money on the book I want to keep it regardless of my rating of it like I want to be that person that always has a big library of books available on my bookshelves for family, friends, and even future me

I see a lot of comments from people that love unhauling books. That's not me. 😅 The only books I unhaul are books I DNF. But I'm lucky to have plenty of space in my library. 😊

Part of me has been thinking about unahuling my entire unread TBR. I feel like they’re mocking me. Plus I almost always listen on audio through the library anyways lol

How did the unhaul go from 30 to 20 to 15? Get rid of 30. If it wasn't a 4 star or above, get rid of it. You know you need places for more than 30 books. You can do it.

Since you didn’t want to unhaul the book that would be on your least favorites list so you could hold it up in that video, maybe you should unhaul any book that makes it onto that list after you film the video.

I think you need to let go of restricting thoughts like "I need to hold onto this book for [xyz youtube video]." I think that's really holding you back. You clearly need the space now, and you don't need to hold up the book in a video to talk about it! Just edit in the picture of the cover, many other booktubers do that too :)
