I remember years back there were live actors and you could choose a different route where you’d only see the waxwork and history. I lied to my mum saying we were “escaping” as she was visiting from Brazil and does not speak English. She screamed so much, but asked if we could queue again 😂

Your tour is easily the best I've found on youtube. You've also got the best camera and you took the time to look at the French Revolution heads. Those were the wax sculptures that fascinated me the most bc they were made from real death masks Madame Toussaud created.

I wrote a chapter on the original chamber of horrors for my master’s dissertation on the commercialisation of crime and it’s beginnings as a form of entertainment in the 19th century, and was so so so excited to see it come back!! I’d still love to see Burke and Hare in the chamber, but this was amazing for me to actually be able to see! (I was a very cowardly kid growing up so there was no chance of getting me in there before it closed originally 😂)

haha I must admit it definitely feels more toned down compared to its previous version but still great to experience all the same. I really missed it when it closed down so when they hinted at its return in a Madame Tussauds documentary I was ever so excited! Just need the one in Blackpool to reopen now!

I remember that the original version was awesome. Many will just remember the version with the scare actors but I remember the garotting, electric chair, the torture elements was so hard to look away from even though it was disturbing. It was lots of gore and then some. Oh and the prison cell with all the criminals and the officer with moving eyes. It had it all. I am glad that they have it less scare actor now, was never keen on that version.

I didn’t know they got rid of it and then brought it back. All for for it coming back but it isn’t as scary as what it was in the 90’s. I was a kid and knew all dark punishment history from school and seeing the actually guillotine that took Marie antionettes head was amazing. Now they only show a replica. I wonder if the original French rev heads are still the same ones? And no Vlad the impaler to welcome you in as the dungeon keeper?? Wow, probably couldn’t afford him now

Thank you for putting this up so quickly. Some amazing results and some things that made my heart sink. Actors? NO. The populist version of Jack the Ripper? NO. Coloured lights? NO. It seems much smaller than it used to be and there are so many interesting things from the past that are missing. Now the pluses. Some of the waxworks have been redone and they are EXCELLENT. Both the Dennis Nilsen and Reg Kray models are far, far better than the originals. The animatronics? Yeah, I'm up for that. The settings? Brilliant. The fact they're using tech and other senses in the exhibition now is also exciting. I hope it gets further expanded and becomes slightly less scare-themed. Definitely need to visit now.

@@thecinematicmind Totally agree. If you read guide books prior to the 1970s they even directly address why they hadn't done it. Then again, you can bet most of our ancient monarchs probably looked nothing like the more recent (even if they are hundreds of years old) the representations they had in The Great Hall.

The bodies in the wall and Jack the Ripper were horrible. Im never going to recover from that. If anyone is thinking of going in the chamber of horrors, remember IT IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. Hi Sean, do the Chamber of Horrors differ from pre-2016? Furthermore, I'm Disabled so is there disabled access. Do you know why Madame Tussauds discontinued The Sherlock Holms Experience? I thought the original Chamber of Horrors was closed as it was deemed too scary. I haven't been to Madame Tussauds. From what I've seen and heard The Chamber of Horrors is superior to The Sherlock Holmes Experience. I went to The York Dungeon with my dad. We had a blast at The York Dungeon. Is the Chamber of Horrors similar to the Dungeon attractions. I know both are owned by Merlin and Horror themed, so I guess yes. The reopening of The Chamber of Horrors fills me with hope and excitement about the Duel refurbishment at Alton Towers. When you mentioned smell pods, I instantly thought "I hope some are utilized in Duel". It seems Merlin have acknowledged their mistakes of the past and reopening beloved and closed classics. With the highly anticipated return of the original Haunted House and Nemesis Sub Terra at Alton Towers, The Chamber of Horrors is the first of a trio of returning attractions. If Merlin continues up the path, they are currently walking the future is bright for the Theme Parks and Attractions under their ownership. Sean I'll probably visit Madame Tussauds soon its long been on my list of places to visit. My now 83 Grandma visited Madame Tussauds as a young Child. She remembers her mum telling her to ask the time to a male employee walking down the stairs. On approaching the man my grandma reliszed her mum has tricked her into speaking to a Wax Work LOL!!

There’s an option to skip if it’s deemed too scary and it’s certainly different from the pre 2016 version. I’m not entirely sure regarding the disabled access I’m afraid 😞
