I have both these helmets and have used them both a lot. I bought the Krios because of all of these reviews stating it’s the best. After being disappointed I bought the X4. The X4 is vastly superior, build quality and design is far ahead of the cheaply put together Krios. On paper the Krios is awesome, hence all these videos reviews praising it. When truely tested the Krios is not a good helmet. The padding system is soft and cheap, the overall build quality is definitely very Chinese and the visor hinge system is shockingly badly designed and always on the brink of breaking. Once you have to move or replace a hinge it’s impossible to get the visor to seal. Ps. If your touring with a Krios, always take a spare hinge assembly. They snap like twigs. I was extremely disappointed in the Krios, especially since all the other Klim gear I have is absolutely the best and most superior available.

Ya, I’ve the original krios & when upgrade time came, the XD4 was the next choice. Not willing to gamble on Klim’s pro model after the same disappointments with quality. For the price, it shouldn’t feel (or be) so cheap, leak so badly or need me to warm & tweak the visor detent mechanisms just to stop it slamming shut in the wind. The tool free visor pegs have been junk & although comfy, the interior padding strikes me as almost too soft. Except for the light weight, it’s over rated & poor value for the money. Relegated to dedicated dirt use & abuse when the Arai shows up.

Yep. Me too. I just use it for short rides where I know I won’t have to rely on it to work.

Hello, bro. What about the noise in Arai? I'm having trouble with the noise while riding my motorcycle. Currently, I'm using a Sena helmet but the noise is unbearable. I've switched to ALPINE MotoSafe earplugs, but after using them, I experience pain in my ears and have difficulty taking my helmet off.

@@sotono⁠Hi mate. I would say the aria is fairly standard/average for noise. It’s certainly not “bad” as for earplugs can I suggest you have some custom ones made. That’s what I’ve done. You take your helmet with you and if you can feel the plugs when your helmet is on then they will remove some material from the area in contact with the helmet. Cheers.

I hope Suome gets in to this market because they have the most comfortable motoX helmet I’ve ever had. And by far the lightest for a non carbon.

How does the fit of the Klim Krios Pro compare to the Arai? An Arai L fits my head (almost) perfectly.

I ride with Arai and shoie. I was excited to try the Krios but I found that it hurt the top of my head above the four head. It felt like there was no padding at all. The arai felt awesome like a pillow top. The Arai still uses the antiquated clasp and still no transitional lense. There is no pull down tinted lense. That alone keeps me from buying it. The winner t for me is the shoie or Schuberth E1 which fits like the Arai

yes i am having buyers remorse right now with the krios pro. It hurts my fore head as well. Was going to go today to buy an XD4 but will check out the E1 as well. Thanks.

@@Ignas2fly do you have data backing up your claim? One statistic that is true is that helmets over 1500g cause more neck injuries.

@@Ignas2fly also i did buy the XD4 and took it for a day ride. It was way too heavy for me, very uncomfortable. Sold it immediately. I will say however that the build quality and fit on the XD4 was the best i have seen on a helmet. If they made a carbon version i would buy it straight away.

Its weird how the Klim is the least noisy but if you speak to anyone who owns one, the first complaint is that its...noisy. I really think these helmets need to be tested on a naked a bike.

Have these people owned the ither helmets? Numbers don't lie. The testis done using a decibel meter under identical conditions. A different bike wouldn't change the outcome.

@@Championhelmets Without a doubt a different bike WOULD change the outcome. Some bikes have windshields, some have giant gaps between the forks and the plastics for air to rush up. Every bike has different aerodynamics. Even wind blowing from different directions impacts the sound levels. When I ride, even depending on what jacket I wear, the helmet behaves differently. I get you're doing the best you can because there are some many factors. To give you an idea, my XD4 which is a loud helmet on my naked bike is super quiet on my R1200GS. My Shoei RF1200 is quiet on my naked but suffers from vibrations on my GS. Its an impossible task.

Recently I purchased the Aria X4 and the AGV Sports Modular Helmets. I wish maybe I bought the Klim Krios Pro instead of the Arai X4, but w/e. The AGV is very light and has an interior drop down sun visor and is modular, but no exterior visor. I like that the Kim Krios Pro is also very light and has a transitional face shield (too bad it is also not modular). At some point I now plan on getting it. I also have a several year old Scorpian EX-AT 950 that I was using. But it played hell on my neck giving me extreme pain after long rides and/or the next day after same (due to its wieght no doubt). just saying

The Klim Krios Pro is a $800 helmet after taxes. You would expect perfection in all aspects and it's almost there BUT the visor will NOT stay where you place it. Open it up a few notches for extra air, first little dip or bump in the road and SLAM down it comes! I love everything about this helmet except the hinge plates. They are very cheaply made. It makes me wonder if anyone that actually rides tests them?? It is a $800 helmet WT Actual F?!

Looking to replace my old XD4. Can you close the visor while wearing goggles on the Klim? I can with my Arai and I'm not giving up that ability.

I spoke with some Krios Pro users and all addmit they never again buy this model. None of them have ever had Arai buy they want one in the future. So it's hard to pick one best, every rider has different preferences. I'm still not sure which one is better. Maybe if this test will show all features like visor changes, goggles fitment, aerodynamic and opinion after long term usage. What has been broken, how materials looks and etc. For me very important feature is visor cooperation with goggles and water resistant.

Arai visor change process is a bit pain in a... 🤷 Main importance for Arai is your Head and Neck when crashin. Ventilation is really strong, but Klim has better, because it has big holes in outershell. But new Ece-22.06 safety standard will not let Klim to have such a big holes in outershell. If you compare Arai 6 years and other manufactures 6 years of use, Arai looks miles away better. Paint, interior, visor.

Arai is far more safe then other helmets in the market. Miles away .. But this Klim helmet is very nice also 👍

True but that thing is heavy. Currently using the X4 and at some point, you get a stiff neck as it really is a difference between 1.3 nad 1.65kg. Add up your Sena, maybe gopro and you are doing workouts.

Had four Arai helmets in the last 10 years. I absolutely HATED them all! My last RX7 and Tour X4 both had the plastic bits braking off all the time (air intec) and had to be replaced with new. Both are super heavy and uncomfortable for long ride. No more Arai for me!

6 year of using Rx-7 no problem with ventilation parts/plastics. But we had to change some ventilation int/exh parts for our customers. Weight - all ece-22.06 helmets (if they have) are now 6-12% heavier except Arai, which stayed the same. So weight is not an issue anymore 🥰

It depends on what features are important to you. I have an XD4 and don't really do too much off-road, so for street riding it's a very nice helmet. I like the fit, and I really like the wide field of vision. It's definitely a quality helmet and I feel safe while wearing it. I do wish it offered a photochromic shield or a drop-down sun visor, but those aren't deal breakers since I wear my sunglasses. Despite all the good of the Arai, I am looking a Schuberth C5 since I think I would appreciate the convenience of a modular helmet.

Thank you for the question! Since this is an adventure helmet, it does try to be both a touring and off road helmet, so if you're planning to just hit the road then this helmet would work fine. However, there are other helmets out there that you may want to consider first if you're planning on only touring since, for example, an integrated sun visor will be more comfortable to have than a peak when out on the road.

you forget to mention that klim has 5! different interiors for each size og helmet, thus allowing a precise fit for each headsize. The self toning visor si worth some extra points imho and the koroyd intrerior provides extra safety, making this helmet much better than you test results might imply..

You're mixing up things I think. Klim has only 2 shell sizes for the different sizings, Arai has 5 different shell sizes so a much much better relation to the interior, further on Arai can supply you with a number of different thicknesses in cheekpads and interiors, Klim only cfeekpads.

All helmets have different interior sizing. But self toning visor is very usable feature 👍

At least for the US, the XD4 is only available with clear, light tint, and dark tint shields.

What kind of fit does the klim krios pro have? Do you ship to australia?

Thank you for the questions. The Klim Krios Pro has an intermediate oval head fit. For the second question; we do ship to Australia, regular shipping takes 4 to 6 weeks and express shipping will take 7 days. Hope this helps!
